It's tough but pick five for All-American, as of now. You can change your mind in later posts.

Paige Bueckers - UConn
Caitlin Clark - Iowa
Charli Collier - Texas
Dana Evans - Louisville
Naz Hillmon - Michigan

Caitlin Clark is a horrid defender. She is a brilliant scorer, but her lack of interest and lack of fundamentals at that end of the floor remove her from my list.

She can shoot it, though ...

Here's my expanded list, as of today. For me, All-American doesn't necesarily mean the 5 players with the best stats. It's more about impact on team greatness, so I'm basing this more on the best players on the best teams.

First Team:
G - Paige Bueckers - UConn / G - Dana Evans - Louisville
F - Naz Hillmon - Michigan / F - Rhyne Howard - Kentucky
C - Aliyah Boston - South Carolina
Second Team:
G - Aari McDonald - Arizona / G - Ashley Owusu - Maryland
F - Haley Jones - Stanford / F - NaLyssa Smith - Baylor
C - Elissa Cunane - NC State
Third Team:
G - Chelsea Dungee - Arkansas / G - Arella Guirantes - Rutgers
F - Rennia Davis - Tennessee / F - Michaela Onyenwere - UCLA
C - Charli Collier
Honorable Mention:
G - Caitlin Clark - Iowa / G - Veronica Burton - Northwestern
G - Anastasia Hayes - MTSU / G - Kysre Gondrezick - West Virginia
F - N'Dea Bryant - Texas A&M / F - Ashley Joens - Iowa State
F - Natasha Mack - Oklahoma State / F - Myah Selland - SDSU
C - Mackenzie Holmes - Indiana / C - Dorka Juhasz - Ohio State

This is a great list, but I am just not sold on Howard, no matter how much ESPN tells me I have to be. I really think Awusu might be first team and Howard is 2nd. Every time I watch Maryland, and it's been a lot, she is just so good. The only addition, in the honorable mention category is Kamila Cardoso and maybe Rae Burrell.

I don't see how you can leave out Rae Burrell.

Too hard for me to narrow down to just five this year. Im kinda partial to giving love to strong mid-major seasons, so I'll include a couple worthy of the shoutout in mine. Sure I'm missing some obvious ones, but here is a off the top of my head list:

1st-
Dana Evans
Paige Bueckers
Rhyne Howard
Naz Hillmon
Aliyah Boston

2nd-
Aari McDonald
Chelsea Dungee
Ashley Owusu
Michaela Onyenwere
Charli Collier

3rd-
Anastasia Hayes
Caitlyn Clark
Kiersten Bell
Rennia Davis
Natasha Mack

Honorable Mentions- Kysre Gondrezick/Arella Guirantes/Rae Burrell/Nalyssa Smith/Elissa Cunane

As much as Gondrezick was a disaster at Michigan and her first year at West Virginia, I’m really glad to see how she’s matured and is shining this season.

I don't see how you can put Davis on the list and leave Burrell off. Their stats are similar, and Burrell is a far better defender who gets the toughest assignments like Howard and Dungee.

My logic was that Tennessee, a 6+ loss team, will get 1 AA max. Davis already has the name recognition, so I checked the season stats on Tennessee's website to see how big the gap between the two throughout the whole season was:

Davis:31.6 minutes per game, 18 games
16ppg, .4bpg, .9spg, 8.7rpg, 2.5apg/33TO, 47.9% FG, 24.6% 3pt, 82% FT

Burrell:31.8 minutes per game, 19 games
16.9ppg, .4bpg, .9spg, 4.1rpg, 1.8apg/47TO, 45.6% FG, 40.3% 3pt, 78.9% FT

Burrell seems to be the driving force of this years team. Davis seems to be the statistical leader. I don't see Burrell knocking Davis off the AA chatter, despite the fact that watching Tenn play, it's obvious Burrell probably deserves it more. Dungee is the question mark, but I think this year, the guards on the team outside of Bueckers and Evans is a shot in the dark until we actually see the final list.

I'm dumping Collier. Very good stats but she just looks soft and ineffective against too many good teams.

Putting Boston on my first team. I still don't think she's an elite offensive threat, but she's tough when she gets to her offensive spots and consistently aggressive on rebounds and defense.

Boston and Collier are on opposite ends of the spectrum ...

Boston seems uninterested against inferior opposition; Collier dominates inferior teams but struggles against quality competition.

I think Collier has more talent than Boston, but Alliyah is tougher. I think Collier will be a good pro because she is a versatile big and she will have much better teammates. Texas just doesn't have good guards and that hinders her immensely against good teams.
