I think we're getting the Christmas rush, just as predicted by Fauci and others. Maybe it would be best for everybody to pause/quarantine for two weeks.

Towson is paused, and Dixie State has called it for the year.

That is exactly what I have said many times. There should have been a 2 week pause across the board. Have games resume around January 14th and end on February 28th. Go on another 10 day pause with practices to resume on March 10th, Selection Sunday for the men on the 14th, Monday the 15th for the women, First Four games for the men to be played on the 16th after everyone has had practice for about a week.
If they don't do a mandatory pause across the board I think they will have some issues with teams being able to play in the postseason.

I don't see a pause being overly effective unless all positive cases are arising from contact with other teams, and everyone is completely quarantined going forward. Otherwise, everyone pauses for 2 weeks then resumes playing with the same exposure risk as they had before, because the virus is still circulating in the community at the same, or nearly the same, level as it was before the pause. A week will go by, and teams will start to test positive again. Case in point, if 65% of Texas residents aren't wearing masks or practicing social distancing, Texas teams aren't going to stay safe unless they're in a strict bubble, pause or no pause.

Not true. If a team pauses (and when I use that term, I am also assuming they are practicing safety measures), they should be able to get their situation under control if they currently have or have had covid issues. And that should be able to done, regardless of what 65% of the other people are doing. If each one of us on a team wear our masks when in public and stay 6' away from others while also washing our hands and using sanitizer, we should be able to stay virus free.
Case in point, I have been around people that were covid positive (my kids, neighbors, etc) and have not gotten it. Miraculously, I have stayed safe and free. At one point, 67% of my household was covid positive. But not me...
Will it be 100% effective? No, but at least a little bit of a reset would allow everyone to get their shit under control and re-organize themselves. That goes for teams, conferences, officials, etc.

I feel like there should be a tracker that lists all thse schools who are on pause due to Covid. And the fact that I feel like there's a need for this makes me wonder if they should really be playing right now...

Yep - sucks. The team had a number of games canceled/postponed earlier in the season, but those were due to other teams dealing with issues. Now the virus has hit home. Hope it doesn't last too long......

UCLA will not play Colorado tomorrow. They don’t meet the PAC12 minimum number of healthy players.

So the P12 plays 2 out of 6 games today. Pretty absurd.

Both JMU vs. UNCW games this weekend postponed due to a positive Covid test in the JMU program. (Note: JMU played Towson last weekend and almost immediately after the game the Towson HC tested positive. She had her mask down yelling at her players for much of the game.)

This is something that totally annoys me. Either the HC's shouldn't bother to wear masks or they should be fined for every time it slips below their noses. Most of them yank them down to yell every minute or two. If they think they can't be heard, then get a bullhorn and yell thru the mask thru the bullhorn.

Ditto for everyone else on the bench. I shudder every time I see a coach pull the mask down so the top edge is IN her mouth, then pull it up and adjust it, then touch a player's arm, the ball, or the AC's clipboard. And I doubt a lot of their masks are effective anyways. Most of the semi-transparent ones provide only a minimal barrier.

JMU's coach, Sean O'Regan, rarely if ever yanks his mask down. He can be heard all over the AUBC and often over the game announcers. For a little guy, he has a voice like a foghorn. And trust me, the Towson coach can be heard too, mask or no mask. IMNSHO, it's a bad habit with her.

And guess what? Sean's the guy who tested positive. Oh, the irony of it all.

Villanova is the latest Big East team to pause due to Covid. Their next 3 games against UCONN, Providence and DePaul have been postponed.

Providence is now on pause, UCONN played them Saturday, so tomorrow's game against Seton Hall has been postponed. UCONN is probably not going to make the 13-game threshold. We have just been crushed by Covid pauses, from a game and quality of opponents standpoint.

I think a lot of Big East schools are going to have the same problem.
I think DePaul is now the only BE team out of 11 to not have a Covid pause during the season so far.

There are several schools and leagues in the same boat, with many teams at 7 games or so at this time. With 6-7 weeks left, it will be close for many. The NCAA may have to figure something else out.

They've played 7 and as long as the BE tournament happens they need only 3 more regular season games to qualify.
