A quick summary of this week's picks
Unanimous selection - 8
1 holdout - 4
4 on one side (of 6) - 6
Even split - 2
Already the first singular pick has won (pilight with Colorado over Utah).
So much for Cal - Colorado being competitive.
Correction - There were actually 7 unanimous selections and 7 4-2. My shorthand scoring of using the first letter failed me when I record people's picks for the Oklahoma - Oklahoma St game. Not all "O's" were created equal.

so ok. how about Cal-Utah? Do you think Cal will be alone in the basement? Maybe USC? I dunno. Anything can happen in this crazy year.
And I start the week 0-2! No place to go but up from here!

Cal should improve throughout the year but right now they are woefully short at guard. They had already lost Jazlyn Green and Caitlyn Crocker for the season when Freshman Alma Elsnitz succumbed to an ACL against CSU-Bakersfield. That left only sophomore Leilani McIntosh and freshman Ornela Muca as their guards. And now McIntosh is in concussion protocol. Their only upper classmen are Archer Olson (37 minutes in 3 years) and Sierra Richey (21 minutes in 2 years).
With McIntosh back and the rest of the team gaining experience the team may be able to compete with the lower echelon of the Pac 12 toward the end of the season but it looks like a second consecutive season in the basement. But watch out in 2021-22.

To all of the players and others who follow our game, 2020 is almost at an end so celebrate Christmas and the New Year as much as possible. Just be safe.

Week 2 had 4 cancellations (Seton Hall-Marquette, Oregon St-Washington, Central Michigan-Dayton and Ohio St-Maryland) Safe to say that these were the games where I shined. Y'know, I'm thinking....with all the Covid mess, and sloppy weather coming up....I think we should just call it a season while I'm ahead of Myrtle.

I am sorry for the unscheduled games included in this week's slate. The games were taken from the schedule as shown in Massey, but they were out of date.
In the case of Ball St-Akron this appears to have been just a mistake because the game was actually played December 20, not December 30. The Tulane-Temple, Florida-Vanderbilt and UNLV-San Diego St games have been postponed. The MVC conference schedule was completely redone to play 2 games at the same site most weekends. Finally the JMU @Towson game was originally scheduled for January 1 but was rescheduled to January 5. They were scheduled to play at James Madison on January 3. Since the game at Towson is now outside this week the game at JMU will be used. That leaves 14 games for this week unless more are called off. I noticed that SMU and Duke have called off their seasons and I suspect there will be others.
Going forward I will use ESPN to develop the slate of games as they seem to have updated all of the team schedules.

maybe you should start with 30 instead.
or have 20 with 10 alternates in a numbered sequence so if seven games are removed, the top seven on the alternates is used...if the alternates are played...

At this point we will stay with a slate of 20 games without alternates. Frankly it is hard to come up with 20 games now and check multiple sources to assure the games are still scheduled. Hopefully the number of canceled/postponed games will go down as the season goes on.
Week 4
1/6 Toledo - Ball St
1/6 Georgetown - Providence
1/6 Villanova - Seton Hall
1/6 Temple - East Carolina
1/6 Oklahoma St - TCU
1/7 Northern Iowa - Valparaiso
1/7 Georgia Tech - Clemson
1/7 Connecticut - Baylor
1/7 Kentucky - Texas A&M
1/7 San Francisco - Pacific
1/8 Arizona St - Washington St
1/8 Oregon - Stanford
1/9 Iowa - Northwestern
1/9 Central Michigan - Buffalo
1/9 Tulane - Cincinnati
1/10 Penn St - Minnesota
1/10 Colorado - USC
1/10 Arizona St - Washington
1/10 South Carolina - Kentucky
1/10 Texas A&M - Arkansas

Frankly, with Crystal Balls in shorter supply than ventilators, who the hell can figure it out. I say *kudos* for trying, Cal....and after all is said and done, each of us is 'playing' the same amount of games, whether it comes down to 20 or 4, right?
