I'm stunned. He's only 49.

This is too bad. He had the original injury in March and surgery in June, but he gave an interview 2 weeks ago saying he had been cleared to return to the court, was feeling well, and was looking forward to the season. He didn't really seem 100% in the video, but he was pretty positive about everything.

Heard on the radio this morning that he hasn’t been able to be at practice. Obviously his recovery hasn’t gone as they’d hoped.

I’m glad he had a strong staff and look forward to seeing Coach Elzy at the helm.

I hope he can resolve his health issues and resume his coaching career at some point

Head injuries are tricky. What seems small at first can turn into something really freaky, and in this case that's what seems to have happened, which is really too bad. He was definitely on his way up.

Wishing Kyra Elzy all the best as she takes over. She was one of my favorite players when she was at Tennessee, one who could have been great but got derailed by a knee injury and was never quite as good afterwards....but she rehabbed hard, and she took that stick-to-itivity and turned it elsewhere. I think she'll do well.
