Since it's unlikely this game will include both Bird and Taurasi, I really hope these teams meet in the semifinals. We deserve a well hyped potential last meeting between these two greats. I know they both plan to play next year but ESPN hypes EVERY Serena/Venus match as the possible last one, so why not hype it up!!

I think you meant to say both Bird & Stewart are unlikely to play in this game. Letting those two heal is more important than trying to stay at the #1 seed, unfortunately for the can’t-control-their-own-destiny Lynx.

So, just to clarify: if Phoenix wins, they lock up the four seed? |

Yes.
Both teams equally disadvantaged in this one, with Smith & Coffey missing for Phoenix and the Storm without Bird & Stewie. So that's 2 players each.

Yes, and if they lose they are locked in the 5th seed.

Bummed about Seattle. I needed to see the Mercury play against a full strength Storm after the hot mess of a performance last time out. Plus I wanted to see Turner lock Stewart down again

They are equally disadvantaged... when you factor in Griner’s absence, too. (Well, at least on paper 🙃)

It’s early and we’re playing poorly but damn is it refreshing to not see Loyd taking bombs from 30 feet with the shot clock winding down for once against the Mercury.
But like I said, it’s early.

Yeah, to chime in, my maths says that this game decides the #4. Phoenix win, they get it; Phoenix lose, Minnesota gets it. Lynx game tomorrow has become irrelevant. I think. |

Sit the rest of this one out, Skylar. Jenkins got this covered.

This is hilariously bad. The Mercury should actually forfeit just because there’s literally no one to put in the game haha.

They said she couldn't come back in anyway.

We love to lose to them in general, so this year is no aberration.
It's uncanny how Taurasi seems to coincidentally have quiet games when we play the Storm. Just one of those quirks of probabilities that will never be explained.

Clark does particularly well against a non playoff Taurasi. She isn’t aggressive and Clark extends her defense out 60 feet. It actually makes a lot of sense when you think about it. Playoff Taurasi tells a different story against Clark
But seriously, how fortunate are the storm. They are so stacked that they have the ability to put someone out on the floor and say “your only focus is face guarding their best player”. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a skill and she excels in that area but nobody else gets that luxury.
And before people come for me for this post, if anything this is just a testament to her DPOY case. If Stewart was playing the outcome and score differential would be no different. However, if Clark didn’t play Taurasi would probably already have 20. My hottest take of the night, Clark is more crucial to the Storms success with their current roster than Stewart.

Tight contest so far with both teams having a 6 and a 2 in their score
