Sims joining at some point is interesting. She'd have to go under the quarantine protocol first. Maybe she arrives in August and plays by the end of that month?

Does Sims get to serve her 2 game suspension, if anybody still remembers about it, while in quarantine?

She should do like the men do, and announce her return two games before she was actually intending to come back. That way, she serves her suspension during two games that she wasn't going to play, anyway.

That may be more difficult to get away with when for the two games before she's intending to return she may be locked in a hotel room observing quarantine rules. League might force them to wait until she'd actually be physically able to be in the building before activating her and running off the two games.

https://m.startribune.com/lexie-brown-expected-to-be-starting-guard-for-lynx-this-season/571895112

Quote:
Lexie Brown is on the cusp of her first-ever WNBA start when the Lynx open the season Sunday vs. Connecticut, the team that drafted her in 2018.

Quote:
“First think I told her is thank you for being in such good shape,” Reeve said. “From the day she flew into Minneapolis (before heading to Florida with the team) I immediately noticed a change, the maturity.”

When the Lynx open up Sunday, Reeve expects Johnson and Brown to be the starting backcourt, along with forwards Napheesa Collier and Damiris Dantas and center Sylvia Fowles.

Quote:
In a recent 40-minute scrimmage with Dallas, Brown played 29 minutes.

Quote:
Rachel Banham will likely be the first guard off the bench, but she should get big minutes in an offense without a true point guard; she could see playing time with both Johnson and Brown at different time.

That is a real shame. Must be very discouraging to have to go into rehab again. Good luck to her in the future.

Crying or Very sad so sorry to hear this. yeah, I'm guessing it's the end of career. A very hard injury to recover from.

So does Minny pick someone up?

No, they’ll be stuck at 11. But Sims should be coming soon.

I’m debating who the Lynx should cut when Sims gets through quarantine.
To me it’s between Alexander, Huff, and Carleton. Cutting Alexander would leave them thin at big post, but she’s done nothing, like I expected. With Christmas going down, Carleton might be worth keeping around.

When Fowles is off the floor, it might look something like this
Sims/Dangerfield
Brown/Banham
Johnson/Carleton
Collier/Huff/MHH
Dantas/Alexander

With one of the red players gone.

Dantas is first backup center, so Alexander isn’t that necessary as long as Dantas stays healthy.

I guess Christmas-Kelly just gets waived when Sims is ready?

She has a guaranteed contract through 2021 and she's a team captain, so I assume, if she's able to, she'll remain with the team and basically be a de facto assistant coach through the rest of this season.

I don't think she can be waived? But she will likely have to leave the wubble to have surgery. Then there will be recovery from surgery. Then there would be quarantine. Unlikely she makes it back. Maybe very end of season.

You can always waive somebody. Question is whether it's worth it considering how much it'll cost you.

THIS. How many major injuries has she had during her career? She should be thinking about basketball retirement.

Indiana was higher up on the waiver list than Minnesota. I’m surprised they didn’t go for someone they were familiar with, being in a similar need.

I guess Minnesota’s content with paying Christmas-Kelly’s salary this season and next.

Is this a sign that Reeve wants to try one of these smaller posts (Huff, Herbert Harrigan, McCall herself) at SF?

Still - kind of cold. But I guess getting paid for 2 years will ease the pain.

Crap. Remember how I was hoping Reeve would trade her during the preseason?

Now they have to take her salary next year out of next year’s cap, as far as I can tell.

Paid for 90 games. Got 8 out of her.

I bet she had no trade value before this year.
Actually, her contract being on the books may save us from Reeve again spending the cap space that needs to be reserved to re-sign the players on our team when they are up for a new contract on unneeded players.
