The Sky somehow held the Aces scoreless for the final 4+ minutes of their game. If the Sky want to win here, they’re going to have to make that kind of defensive effort much more widespread throughout this game. Although, if LA has a bad night defensively, Chicago could just as easily cash in.

Boy, imagine if McCoughtry had signed with this loaded Sparks unit instead of Vegas... Shocked

Likely would have been McCoughtry instead of Augustus, salary wise, right? And she would be taking less money?

Equally scary imo is imagining the Aces fully loaded with Cambage and Playoff Plum.

Plum/Allen/Robinson
McBride/Rodgers
McCoughtry/Young
Wilson/Hamby
Cambage/Swords
vs
Gray/Cooper
Williams/Sykes/Wiese
McCoughtry/Ruffin-Pratt
Parker/Gray
Ogwumike/Anigwe/Gulich

Time for Te'a Cooper to grow her game. No Kristi
Tolivar means Te'a must grow to become a two-headed PG monster along with Chelsea.

The Sparks coaching should tell their players to drive to the basket for the entire game. The Sky's interior defense is nonexistent. Confused

I will not give the Sky credit for playing any defense against the Aces. Wilson and McCoughtry ran out of gas at the end of the fourth quarter and no one else for the Aces stepped up their game to help out the two young ladies

Dolson is out, so it will be even worse

I expect Brittney "Human Eraser" Sykes to continue her reign of terror tonight.

Being a hardass with your own team like this? I can appreciate that. Twisted Evil

Ankle injury apparently.

Makes the Sky’s chances of winning that much harder - good thing they won their first game. No post depth for the Sky - although if Gülich is still out, Hebard I think could hold her own against Anigwe/Gray. Still, Ogwumike & Ca. Parker should be able to overpower Stevens & Ch. Parker. But we’ll see...

Hebert should get lots of minutes. Probably will see Williams at the 4 spot.

By the way, I believe this game was moved back an hour (originally 5PST, now 8PST). I am pretty confident it was moved as I had set my DVR last weekend, and now all indications are that it is at 6 PST.

Sparks frontcourt will have to get it done against the shorthanded Sky frontcourt. With no offense intended, not having Dolson against Nneka and Candace isn't exactly a loss as either one of them can around Dolson. Chicago's Parker, Stevens, and Heberd (and Williams) are a respectable group, and all are more agile than Dolson.

We will need contributions from our bench and Williams to snap out of her cold shooting from the first game. I expect that Williams will heat up while Augustus will come back down to earth, which should balance out. Lots to prove in this early season. Let's go Sparks!!

That's beacuse they're playing a real, legitimate WNBA team, and not the Phoenix Mercury. Laughing

I was keeping an eye on her in France as she was on Sami's team, and playing consistently good ball so I was curious to see how well that would translate into the WNBA season.
Pretty darn well so far!

Ms. Williams knew that for her to get a fat contract in the near future she would have to improve her jump shot.

She's eligible for an extension after this season, if I'm not mistaken. Hopefully for her sake, her agent's on their A-game.
