Seattle officially awarded an NHL expansion team to begin play for the 2021-22 NHL season. Seattle will play in the Pacific Division, and Arizona Coyotes will move to the Central.

With Arizona switching divisions, it would make a relocation to Houston VERY easy, scheduling-wise. Just hoping. Razz

Seems like Seattle was a lock for #32. Houston and Quebec City wait for a relocation now.

Seattle has been approved for #32.

With Ottawa's arena situation falling apart (could see a relocation to Quebec City) and Arizona's owner actively looking for a partner and an unsettled arena issue in the Phoenix area, coupled with the Coyotes moving to the Central in 2021, Houston looks like a comfy landing spot for them.

From the NHL website and the Seattle Times....

Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan, standing behind the Stanley Cup and the city's past championship sports trophies. By the way, she is NOT wearing a Xmas sweater. It's actually a replica Seattle Metropolitans jersey, in honor of the team from 100 years ago!

It turns out that one of the Seattle's team investors/owners is TV and movie producer Jerry Bruckheimer.

Any now reports are coming odd with how soon it will take the NBA to return. Silver has stated there's no plans for expansion, so relocation is the city's only option. Don't think any NBA is in danger of relocation at this moment.

Carolina is a safer bet right now to stay put. With Ottawa's arena deal crashing, they would be a better bet to move to Quebec City.
