The deadline is like a speed limit. You hope most folks will follow it but you know some people won't. Smile

So how many cases will it take for the league to be cancelled- anyone want to start a poll?

I hope there is no limit as it would be more interesting for me to have a new set of players to watch in fanless games all being played on the same court.

TRUE. Everyone on this board has been making this statement for years that they wished the league had more teams. There are a lot of players that don't make a roster because the league has only 12 teams with a 12 player limit. With each player that decides not to play that opens the door for another player to join the league that might not make a roster.

Especially with the COVID resurgence over the last couple of days, I see a domino effect situation playing out here.

Unfortunately, I think we will be back in Phase 1 by the end of the week. I'm not hopeful.

I don't know if it has been discussed here or in another thread but I hope that the league has planned for the possibility of rosters being reduced because of the testing that they will be doing. IMO, they need to have some contingency players available in the bubble in case a team needs add to their roster to compete. It is likely that a few players will test positive at the onset and some might test positive during the "season". Playing every other day does not give teams a long time to find a player let alone get them to Florida and tested between games. It would be a pool of players ready to play at a moments notice. Doesn't have to be a lot but it would be smart, IMO, to have some players there just in case.

They could just keep playing with the heathy players they have. They keep it up until the last team with five healthy players is declared the winner.

Considering he was diagnosed with cancer last year and probably has a compromised immune system, he's got a better reason than any. Not that ANYONE needs a reason to protect their health.

I'm still expecting a few more players to opt-out before they fly down to Florida next week. The Aces are questionable right now as there's been no word of Cambage flying in yet.

I think this is even closer:

Dantas/Herbert Harrigan/Huff
Fowles/Alexander

You forgot about Carleton, who has made it to Minneapolis.

Banham has a couple years experience on Brown and people forget about the Banham-Whalen-Reeve love triangle.

The players Lynx social media hasn’t been showing (and it’s making me nervous) are:
Dantas (hopefully in isolation)
Christmas
SJohnson
Alexander (no biggie)

They aren’t showing Sims either so she must not gonna be a Day 1 player. Very disappointing considering Day 1 is at the end of July.

I wish players would tell us if they're coming over or not (since can't trust anybody else to tell us) so I don't have to be nervous. Hurry up Dantas and drop some hints or something.

I don't remember anybody ever saying Sims was going to be a Day 1 player (techincally she wouldn't be, since she should have a 2 game suspension pending if anybody didn't forget about it)

If you're expecting any player to go from averaging 4 points and 1 assist in 11 minutes per game in her first four seasons is going to magically start producing at a starting point guard level, I think you're fooling yourself. Brown showed more potential last season in her 2nd year than Banham has showed in her first four seasons combined, IMO. The 447% increase in scoring production was quite impressive. However, she also did that after a move from Connecticut to Minnesota, so I guess you never know how Banham might adjust.

That being said, the fact that the Lynx don't have an obvious starter at either guard position does not bode well for them. If Sims doesn't play a majority of the season, they don't make the playoffs.

It’d be a great opportunity to sign Gorecki who could play anything from the PG to PF (in the Liberty’s new system). Team her up with Odom for some instant chemistry. Have 8 rookies on the team.

Gorecki got signed by a Spanish club, so I don’t know if that’ll conflict.

After paying off Tayler Hill very quickly, I wonder how stupid they’re feeling about that move right about now.
