OK, Whitmer for VP and then Dana (I believe it's pronounced Danna, btw, At least that's what I hear on media here) can become Mich. gov.
Can't Trump just do kind of a "comb-under" and solve the problem of a mask? đ·đđ

Trump is such a pussy. I laugh at MAGAmorons, or anyone else, who think this douche is some kind of tough guy.
Biggest pussy president in my lifetime.
No offense to pussies.

I had wondered if the wind would make the six feet much to small. They just had a report on CNN that said that a study said that a light breeze could blow "droplets" 18 feet, although they left an out in that "it is unclear how infectious those droplets would be".

âFinished, just finished,â Trump said in an interview on Sinclair Broadcast Group program âFull Measure with Sharyl Attkissonâ that was taped Friday and aired Sunday. âBy the way, Iâm still here to the best of my knowledge. Here I am.â
Thereâs scant evidence that hydroxychloroquine is effective against the coronavirus. The Food and Drug Administration on April 24 cautioned against its use for Covid-19, the illness caused by the coronavirus, outside of a hospital setting or clinical trial, citing a risk of heart rhythm problems.
Trump, who at 73 is in an age group at which contracting Covid-19 can be especially dangerous, began the treatments in consultation with White House physicians after Vice President Mike Penceâs press secretary, Katie Miller, tested positive for coronavirus on May 8. A White House valet also contracted the virus around the same time.
âI believe in it enough that I took a program, because I had two people in the White House that tested positive, I figured maybe itâs a good thing to take a program,â Trump said.
âYou know we take a little bit of a period of time, I think it was two weeks, but hydroxy has had tremendous, if you look at it, tremendous, rave reviews.â |

Infected Missouri Hairstylist Exposed 91 People to COVID-19

No sooner did hair salons open in Missouri than officials found themselves with a public-health nightmare on their hands. A stylist at Great Clips in Springfield worked for eight days between May 12 and May 20 while infected with coronavirus and symptomatic. Now authorities are notifying 91 clients and co-workers who may have been exposed to the highly contagious virus that has killed nearly 100,000 people across the United States. Both the stylist and their clients were wearing masks, so authorities say they are hopeful no one else will get sick. But the hairdresser also visited a gym, a Dairy Queen and a CVS. |

Symptomatic? Seriously? WTF was she thinking? And don't states' reopening protocols require that employees and customers be screened by asking about symptoms on entry?
Quote: |
Erik Chase is one of the 84 clients whose hair was cut by a stylist who was showing symptoms. Chase said officials have asked him to stay home until Sunday, which will be 14 days from the date of his Great Clips appointment. He also has been told to take his temperature twice a day and to check in with the health department. He'll be tested for the virus this week.
Chase said that from the time he went to the Great Clips to the day he was notified of his exposure, he came in contact with 15 to 20 people. "So I don't think that the story is ending any time soon," he added...
As Springfield health officials continue to trace the stylists' contacts, the city is grappling with other workers in client-facing jobs who have tested positive for COVID-19, including at a Walmart, a gym and a Dollar General. |

With the carelessness of so many people this weekend it seems inevidible that case will skyrocket in a few weeks. Let's just hope our hospitals are fully prepared and can handle the influx of infected people when it happens.

Two news stories from the Silver State:
1) Nevada tentatively plans to reopen casinos on June 4
2) Nevada just had its highest day of new Covid-19 cases, 295; the previous high was 174.
To be fair, the dramatic increase is primarily due to added testing in advance of the casino reopening. Reopening casinos, even with a host of new safety rules, seems like a risky proposition, but given a highest in the nation 29% unemployment rate perhaps it is necessary.
A final decision on opening the casinos will be announced tomorrow

Uh, what were the symptoms? Seems like that wouldn't have been that hard to add versus using "symptomatic". That would be quite a story if the stylist was coughing. But if it was fever, it shows how it would be beneficial to get more of those quick-read thermometers out in the world. Particularly the kind the casinos (or at least the Wynn) were going to use that can read the temperature of people as they walk in. If the stylist made statements that they knew they had symptoms of COVID-19, they should be prosecuted.

wholeheartedly agree. it's like, "i'm a threat to the general public, but i don't give a shit."
just wait till a vaccine arrives. anti-vaxxers will declare their rights to not give a shit about the public good.

Depending on whose data you read, only ~50% of symptomatic infected patients have a cough or fever. The rest have a headache, GI symptoms, abdominal or chest pain, etc. So if you're sick, you should stay home. The exact symptoms are irrelevant.

I woke up not feeling well 6-7 weeks ago. Then I vomited. Texted my boss. She told me to stay home. Good thing because that's what I was planning on doing!!!!
Then I got a text from her telling me that I COULDN'T come in to work the next day, and that I HAD to stay home until I hadn't had a fever for three days (lucky for me it was Thursday and Friday). I never even reported having a fever. In fact, my digital therm read 94.4. Twice!!!! I took it a couple of hours later and it was 96.7. Still about a degree lower than normal. Dug out my mercury therm and it was 96.8. So I'm pretty sure that the 94.4 was correct, more or less**.
Anyway, I was planning on using vacation time for the time that I was off. Because MY EMPLOYER said that I had to stay home, they used my sick time instead. I think it was something special that they could do right now. Normally we have to be off for so long and use a week of vacation time first, I think. I'm lucky that my employer offers paid sick time. I'm guessing that Great Clips doesn't. Even so, I thought that the CARES Act was supposed to cover time off for being sick.
**I did a little search on temps while I was not feeling well. Apparently the 98.6 was established around the 1850s. It said that because of all of the illness at that time (plague, cholera, gum disease, etc) that most people were living with some kind of low grade infection.) Now that we're not usually bothered with that, the average temp has come down. More in the mid-97s. I would have to say that is correct. I have to take temps of people at work. I check around 100/day. I'd say that maybe 5 have temps in the 98s.

'Gut-wrenching' military report sheds light on grim conditions in Ontario nursing homes
https://beta.ctvnews.ca/local/toronto/2020/5/26/1_4954710.html
Quote: |
Last month, Canadian soldiers were sent to facilities in Ontario to help staff struggling to deal with severe COVID-19 outbreaks that resulted in resident deaths.
The homes included Orchard Villa in Pickering, Altamount Care Community in Scarborough, Eatonville Care Centre in Etobicoke, Hawthorne Place in North York and Holland Christian Homes' Grace Manor in Brampton.
The CAF report, dated May 20, was presented to the provincial government over the weekend and read in full by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Monday.
Based on two weeks of observation, the CAF said they identified a number of medical, professional and technical issues at all five long-term care homes.
Among them were significant allegations claiming that staff used the same PPEâgloves, masks and gownsâwhile treating multiple patients. In at least one of the homes, the CAF said that patients who were COVID-19 positive were allowed to wander through the long-term care home.
Military members witnessed residents âcrying out for helpâ while waiting anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours for a staff member to respond.
The report also claims that some residents were force fed to the point where audible choking could be heard.
In two of the homes, military members reported seeing bug infestations, including ants, cockroaches and flies. |

I was thinking about whether they were coughing such that the clients would notice. I would hate to be in a chair and hear the stylist cough, even though it could be post-nasal drip or what have you.
Between people (who need a paycheck) not associating a headache or stomach ache with coronavirus, and all the asymptomatic people, to have haircuts and no spread of the virus probably requires well-fitted N95 masks on both parties.
