I liked everything she had to say here - particularly the last part about the League needing to just push the 'talent' part of its players. And I honestly wasn't familiar with the timeline of Swoopes' relationships, nor do I even know how she identifies now. Her saying "well, there are NBA players that are gay", even in the context that it was in, still made me pause for a second to think about it. Laughing We'll see an active, fully out player in one of the four main American pro sports leagues... someday.

I found it strange to watch Swoopes say that there are gay players in the NBA and other major U.S. pro sports leagues--undoubtedly true--without noting that not one of these players is out. Unlike the WNBA, where a good number of players ARE openly LGBGQ+ and some are outspoken in support of LGBTQ+ rights.
