Odom didn't even play inside in high school. She's always been a wing ...

Gillespie should become available. And one of Dallas' many post players.

The right situation for any player is to be able to start ASAP. That player will either swim or sink. The second best situation is to play at least twenty minutes per game. With that amount playing time a player can demonstrate what she can do. |
(I'm slightly bringing this discussion over from the Draft thread...)
Both situations happened for Jackie Young last season, and though she was surrounded by talent and seemed to fit in, she really struggled with consistency at times. With McCoughtry coming into the fold, I have to wonder if Young will continue to regress coming off the bench - assuming she doesn't start at PG again, given how many PG options are now on the team - or if she will unexpectedly thrive in a 'reduced' role of sorts. I still have a hard time visualizing what kind of ceiling she has in this League.

Still think J.Young is pretty much T.Young redux. [shrug]

I'd have been interested to see what they did with Jackie Young in a vaguely normal 2020 season. Because they spent basically the whole of last season trying to turn her into a point guard, and in terms of the point guard-y stuff she didn't actually do that badly. It was hitting shots where she was still questionable. But then in the playoffs they were vastly better whenever they let Plum run the show, plus they'd now have McCoughtry, Danielle Robinson and potentially Lindsay Allen to fit into the plans.
So is Young still a point guard? Is she McCoughtry's backup? Is she lost on the bench only 12 months after being the #1 overall pick? Intriguing. |

Young was drafted with Laimbeer's intent for her to be the starting PG. Midway through the season he realised that wasn't working for them and moved Plum back into that role. I think Young is now the back-up 2/3 for Vegas. Rodgers shouldn't see that much playing time, similar to last season as she's now only a three point threat.

I think you answered your own question when you listed three point guards they still have on the roster. Even if they were to cut one of them, anything over two experienced point guards on a roster is overkill to me. Can Young still play point guard if DRob gets hurt and Plum/Allen turns out to be pathetic this year, sure.

It’s looking like it since they didn’t bring TYoung back and JYoung has the size and strength for the position.

I wouldn’t exactly call it lost if she’s a part of the rotation. That’s a bit dramatic. It’s not exactly shocking either if you’re familiar with Plum.
Heck, even if Laimbeer would have taken McCowan at #1, she’d be behind Cambage. That’s just a testament to the strength of the Aces starting lineup.
But the window to win a championship with this particular roster is very small. They have to start paying players as they become free agents, which means they won’t be able to keep everybody together. Bye Plum 👋🏻... Bye Hamby👋🏻.

That didn't happen. Plum even got benched late in the regular season. They didn't turn primary ballhandler responsibilities back over to Plum until it was glaringly obvious that they needed to in the postseason. |

And she showed Bill that he needs a guard at the 1 that can hit the 3 to open things up for Cambage and Wilson.

The team did not perform when they benched Plum, so much so it cost them home advantage in the semis.

I wonder what Cambage’s timeline is to leave the League now. She was planning to leave after the 2020 season... but so much has changed since then and so much has yet to happen. And if there is no 2020 season, has this League already seen the last of her?

I mean, she can get the supermax next season. Might change her mind to possibly sign a multi-year deal after 2020.

Was it ever revealed how long Cambage signed for?
Cambage’s plan to make 2020 her last season may have changed since she revealed this sentiment at her last signing.
Quote: |
"Last season was special -- one where I fell in love with this team, my teammates, Las Vegas, and everyone at the Aces and MGM who help make us feel like one big family," Cambage said. "I am lucky to be a part of this amazing organization, and am so excited to continue my journey here. I can't wait to get back to Vegas and feel the love and support from the best fans in the WNBA." |
Ever heard of a one-year journey? Not me.

Yep, because signing for more than year wouldn't be smart. She can get the supermax starting next season.

Also she got them to cough up a 30k time-off bonus, so she gets the supermax value this year anyway if she doesn't play overseas for too long in the 2020-21 season (and who knows what kind of seasons are going to be available overseas at this point). |

Aces are at 13 right now. Have to believe Laimbeer will sign someone else if and when training camps open.

My fun interpretation of that move is that there is a league directive to get down to 15 and they're making it a hard and fast rule, so this has to precede the 3-for-1 trade that they're about to pull off that'll actually entertain us for the next week .
Because otherwise I don't know why they felt the need to do it. |

Me either, unless this came from Musina? This is the second time she got “waived” without even suiting up for training camp._________________

FYI, all teams are down to at least 15 except for Atlanta(currently at 17).
