Similar to what I published last month, but updated following various trades, signings and the draft. Also new, slightly different graphics!

Thanks for posting that. So it looks like buying out Hill costs the Liberty little or nothing as they would be under the minimum w/o it and just have to pay it to the other players.

I believe Jaylyn Agnew has a chance beating out Kiara Leslie for a Mystics roster spot if Kiara Leslie doesn't perform well whenever training camp opens. Remember, you heard it from me 1st. Smile

Really depends on Leslie's health. They also have Korea's Lee Seul Kang if she shows to contend for that 11th spot.

Thanks, Richyyy! I believe I have posted this before but I will make my statement once more. I just don't understand why Stokes, Hawkins, and Powers signed contract extensions last season when they had to know that a new CBA would be formed this season. All three women could at least have received the same amount ($165,000 dollars) money that Copper got from Chicago. Confused

Awesome Richyyy thanks for putting these together!
I guess I remembered incorrectly, I had thought Stokes was guaranteed.

We’ve got a lot of cap space, nobody on a current max contact. So many rookie contracts Laughing Razz

Great job as usual, Richyyy. Kia Nurse being the lowest-paid Liberty is an outrage, but I guess she can take comfort in her shoe contract.

Nurse will get a max deal in 2022. Just gotta wait it out.

There are also all those vague extra payments that are supposed to be available, but I've been too lazy to figure them out. Maybe explaining them can be Richyyy's next project. Wink

There's a mention of a couple of those in part two... Wink

Looking ahead to 2021, Mike Thibault will have to trim salary or say good bye to some familiar faces to get under the 2021 Salary Cap $1,339,000. I would be surprise Natasha Cloud doesn't seek the max salary of $221,450 or something close, she might have to be cored. LaToya, Aerial and Tianna probably will have to accept modest salary increases or play for another WNBA team. Emma might retire from the WNBA then comeback 3 or 4 years down the road or play for another WNBA team. I can't believe Thibault trading what he did and not have a handshake extension deal with Tina Charles. The Mystics not having a draft selection in 2021 might have to go with a 10 player roster in 2021.

Possible 2021 Mystics 10 Player Roster

Charles $221,450
Delle Donne $221,450
Cloud $221,450
Powers $125,000
Sanders $125,000
Hawkins $123,000
Mitchell $123,000
Atkins $62,014
Leslie $58,170
Hines-Allen $58,170

I believe Emma doesn't show up in 2021 and then demands a max contract from another team in 2022. The Mystics are in a jam for 2021, probably more than any other team.

And while Thibault is saying goodbye, we’ll be saying HELLO to Cloud. This is why the Lynx saved their pennies and guaranteed spots, to take advantage of any Connecticut quandaries of the future.

‘ello, ’ello... I don’t know why you say goodbye, I say ’ello.

Go ahead and core her. Just makes her that much less affordable. Mwah ha ha ha!

Don’t be silly. Powers doesn’t have to accept anything less than the big pennies coming from the Lynx. Thibault didn’t think enough of you to budget for you? Well that’s a problem the Lynx can fix. Mo’ pennies, mo’ pennies!

I’m not understanding the concept of her retiring at her peak. Are there any credible articles out there suggesting this?

I don’t know if you’ve been keeping up, but handshakes are a big no-no nowadays.

Unless things have changed with the new CBA, I do believe there is an 11 player minimum roster.

Pretty sure this is not possible, but we can revisit this post a year from now.

It looks to me a lot of WNBA teams are going to be in a jam for the upcoming years except for teams who have already gotten rid of their ageing veterans. It might be the norm in the future for WNBA teams to have a 10 player roster. I don't know who figure out this Salary Cap with a 39K increase every year but it's going have veteran players swallow their pride when it comes to salary increases or force out of the WNBA.

Spotrac has a good salary cap table into the future for each WNBA team.

I feel like most people here know this, but WNBA rosters are required to have either 11 or 12 players on them.

Diamond DeShields reacts to Richyyy's salary projections.

Could be referring to the fact that she is getting paid 100k less than Copper. (Her link is the entire article not just the Dream.) Or could be the possible opening day roster, etc.

That and the fact that rookie Ruthy Hebard will be getting paid more than her.

I am sure she means exactly what we are think

"Damn I am the 2nd best player on the team getting paid what the 10th and 11th player are getting paid and my back up and this years rookie are both getting more than me"

it might not be the best look and yes it is how it works but she ain't wrong

It does seem strange that the #8 pick this year is making more than the #3 from 2018

Not just the #8. If the #24 pick from this year's draft makes a roster she'll be making more than DeShields. They could've upgraded all the rookie scales, but it would've been somewhat complicated to decide how much for each one. I guess they decided it wasn't worth the bother.

Nice to know some of the league's stars are reading, though Smile.

Mompremier can be cut and then probably re-signed a few weeks later to fit under the cap if Fisher prefers her over Gulich.
