I'm under the assumption that the NCAA may respond to the stoppage of athletics due to the COVID-19 virus, and waive some things for 20-21.....

Isn't the NCAA considering immediate eligibility for 1st time transfers? I thought I read that they would decide this in May or June. Unless I'm mistaken, if they approve this proposal, then just about everyone in the portal could play this season. Is this still on the table?

Off the top of my head:

Lexie Brown
Kiah Gillespie
Kiara Leslie
Destiny Slocum
Shakira Austin
Taylor Mikesell

That’s Final Four team worth of talent that has transferred from Maryland in the last 4 years or so, and I still feel like I’m missing someone.

Jenna Staiti was at Maryland for one season and has been solid at Georgia the past few years.

Aja Ellison also left Maryland and went to Texas A&M But didn't really do much there

Eleanna Christinaki who transferred from Florida wasn't with Maryland for a whole lot of time, but she put up double-digit scoring numbers in her lone half-season at Maryland before going home to Greece and turning pro early, iirc. Idk if she can count toward this argument lol.

Ole Miss' coach Yolett McCuin says that her new transfer player Shakira Austin is the type of player the SEC has not seen since Candace Parker. I understand all new signees receive positive press but this may be a level of delusion that may not be matched. She said Ole Miss will let her do anything, and that because Maryland had other talented players, Austin could not do those things.

https://www.clarionledger.com/story/sports/2020/04/17/ole-miss-basketball-adds-dynamic-maryland-transfer-shakira-austin/5154244002/

Austin averaged 11 points per game in Big 10 play and had more than 2 turnovers for every 1 assist.

Very interesting. For context: Slocum originally verbally committed to Washington early on in the process while Mike Neighbors was still here, before eventually de-committing and signing with Maryland. I wonder how much PG she'll be playing given Daniels and Ramirez.

Didn't Sammy Puisis start out at Maryland, too?

She may have verbal to them initially (I don't remember) but last season was her first collegiate season and she was in Tallahassee.

Emily Sullivan a grad transfer from North Carolina go finish your career at Florida. I don't think she played much for the Tar Heels recall correctly she sustained a lot of injuries.

Why would she leave Oregon State -- any knowledge or guesses?

Purely a guess. Scotty doesn't go for hero ball. He was having her share a lot of minutes with Goodman. She hasn't been the focal point since she arrived there and I think she misses being the star. Also I think she wants to play in a system that pushes the ball more...a quicker pace.

Kinda makes sense. I mean, by age, she'd have been a senior this year, right? I don't think she'd have been very high on anyone's radar, given her profile this past season, eh? Maybe a different program will help her get more attention....?

Perhaps Gary can get a handle on her disciplinary issues. Or she can hide them better.

That's a great point. There are a lot of players doing a lot of things coaches are pretty sure are major issues -- but if they don't know about them, they don't have to do anything.

One of the best high school teams I coached was not known for spending Saturday night having milk and cookies. I knew this group would have had several spots on the league's all-party team but as long as I didn't have to confront it, it was better all around.

That's a huge get for FGCU. Bell was considered one of the best in the country coming out of high school.

I think she will be a big star for them in the ASUN
