My favorite KR song, "Ruby Don't Take Your Love to Town". Love those guitar fills between phrases.

Played it on the car stereo a lot which prompted my young nephew to ask what this song was about. Made me sad to have to explain the lyrics to him. That was 15 years ago -- he's getting married this fall.

RIP Kenny.

Roger's had quite the career w/ hit songs in various pop stylings.

"Ruby" is a timeless tune, written by Mel Tillis and based on a real WWII veteran. We all assumed it was about a Vietnam casualty, but it really doesn't matter.

War sucks.

Gotta wonder what condition his condition is in now.

RIP

Growing up in a house that loved a lot of country music, I was listening during his golden period of music dominance. He had so many great hits. It all started with "The Gambler" for me, but I owned a couple of his albums for a long time.

When I found out he'd died, I found that my mom's music collection had a couple of greatest hits compilations. So I took them with me and listened as I ran a couple of bill paying errands this morning.
