'I actually was sick in hospital and I honestly think I had corona,' Cambage told The Herald Sun.
'I was so weak, I couldn’t walk, I was in a wheelchair. I had pneumonia. I think I had it before it was a global thing.' |
She must think coronavirus is a hip think. “I had it before anybody!” Since she went to a hospital, wouldn’t they identify whatever it was that was making her ill? And if it was some unidentifiable strain of virus, I’m sure they would have let her known and went to great lengths to find out where she got it from.

Possibly not
NY governor Cuomo in a press conference today put forward the idea that the virus may have been in the states longer then the test and awareness of the virus so some people may have had it not gone to the hospital or simply had it diagnosed as the flu and if it wasn't an at risk group they would have eventually gotten better and not known they had it.
So it is possible it has been around longer and there are many more cases then the actual positive tests indicate.
This may have been spin to make it sound less scary and less deadly but it also sounds possible
On the other hand "I had corona before corona was cool" is just of funny

Given that she was hospitalized in China, and their reluctance to provide the rest of the world with any information, I could see how she may have had the virus without being provided with test results or any real information..

I heard the younger Cuomo brother say the same thing (I think COVID-19 has been here longer than we think) to someone on his CNN show. He didn't say why he thought that and the guest didn't address it. There hasn't been anything I have seen disagreeing with the idea that it first showed up in Wuhan China on December 1st 2019. Seems like the Cuomo's would be relying on rumor or doing what Wikipedia calls "original research".

my interpretation was not that they were saying it has been here months or predates the first known cases in China from mid December, but rather that it has probably been here longer then what is considered the first identified reported case in America and that for better or worse it is probably more wide spread than the handful of reported identified cases.
But of course they could still be wrong or pedaling false information

Certainly possible that people brought it back from China in the early days. Even after the WHO was notified in early January. The day after China put Wuhan (a city with more people than New York City) on complete lockdown (1/23/2020) due to the big outbreak, a guy who had visited Wuhan flew into San Jose, CA and went home with no government interaction. The health department only found out he had COVID-19 after he got sick and twice went to the doctor. And at that time he would not have been tested for the virus per CDC guidelines if he had only been to China. They were only testing Wuhan visitors - but not meeting them at the airport - instead waiting for them to get sick. And it is being said that you can both have it and transmit it without symptoms.

Possibly coronavirus. Possibly also a big night of partying, or even just an entire half of basketball without a sub. One never quite knows with Liz.

My prediction: Liz will be the first WNBA player to claim she was abducted by Aliens.

Cruise ship qauranteenees are being sent to Marietta, GA. Perhaps she can petition to do her time here. It is her home town. Too bad she is not a Dream player, perhaps our Senator could pull some strings.

Nah, you're thinking of Marionetta, GA

Which could be (part of) the reason why we still haven't seen Cambage sign a contract...

there is like a .01% chance Manis makes the team.

They only have 13 players right now, so she could beat out Warley-Talbert or L. Allen. If Cambage shows up, then it's more like. 1%.

I struggle to see any likely advantage to the player in not signing anything. Sign it and she might even get credited with a year of WNBA experience without having to show up, then be able to switch to the bigger max on the next deal. |

Aces GM Padover:

“Lauren has always been a good rebounder, a good scorer,” he said. “But her three-ball level got really good this past year. She has a really quick release. There are players on certain teams that can be specialists. Seattle has Sami Whitcomb; she was able to pull a quick trigger. Minnesota once had Tricia Liston…We can always use help with another three-baller. That was really what we saw in her.” |
She’s been anticipating an overseas career, how exciting for her to be drafted.
Even though I highly doubt she can beat out Allen or Warley-Talbert, it’s nice to see players get opportunities. I would have thought Samuels or Duffy went to this pick, but sounds like they wanted a shooter and liked what they saw from her.

I've seen her play quite a few times. Nothing ever screamed (or even whispered) WNBA player to me but good for her to get drafted.

Yeah the small clip in that article is all I’ve seen of her, and I agree with your assessment.
I do wonder if her family has connections with the Aces though lol
But agreed, good for her!
