I understand the decision, but especially tough on Sopron to battle through 13 games and then go out on a forfeit in the 14th. Although if they'd won it just would've created a 4-way tie that I can't be bothered to work out given that it didn't happen. They'd have a least been in the EuroCup.
I feel like the disruption to sporting fixtures - including much higher profile stuff than women's basketball - is going to get worse for a while before it starts getting better. Deciding whose fault it is, who should be required to go where, whether there's time in the calendar to postpone games rather than cancel etc etc could get really complicated. Especially if more teams like Riga and Sopron start just refusing to play against opponents from countries with significant virus issues, rather than refusing to go there. And other countries could easily end up battling situations just as bad or worse that what Italy is currently handling, creating extra chaos.
The UK hasn't gone insane yet - I was on the underground yesterday and only saw one or two people with masks or clearly covering their mouths, and it was as crowded as ever. But that switch could be flipped so very, very easily. |

I do wonder whether there would be some deadline point at which they would just not want to play. I have not tracked the second division enough to know if there were any teams really gunning for the two promotion spots. I am sure that some of the teams in the relegation zone would not mind a do-over next season.
In terms of already scheduled game, I can already imagine the scenes here if a Lyon-Lattes Montpellier Finals series goes to 5 games, which could mean a game on June 1st. Seattle and Chicago would be missing two players each and even a re-enactment of Sami's mad dash would be 7 or 8 games without them. |

France really has been the worst place for WNBA teams to see their players go in recent years, and there seem to be a few extra this year. If they want to keep getting WNBA players they're going to have to look at their schedule once the new CBA provisions start to kick in in 2023. Players who want a WNBA career just won't sign in France.
It's going to kill Allemand's chances to settle in with Indiana if Lyon have any kind of playoff run - and that's if they dont start losing games and extending the season on health grounds. |

Braine-Valencia was not played after all. The last EuroCup game for now ending in a tie seems oddly appropriate:

All FIBA Europe events have been stopped (they are still playing games in the Americas League right now).

Those are the rumblings although nothing has been announced to the public. Presumably there would be practice time before games are played and teams probably want to negotiate any rules changes that might take place. On the women's side their extended national team pool apparently stayed in Europe to train after Olympic qualifying, but then returned home once the virus started really spreading there too. |

The contrasts with the women's side is interesting. The women's Korean League played out the regular season without fans and then have been on break since before they decide what to do with playoffs. The latest news seems to be that the Chinese women's league will just be cancelled. I do not know if there are any summer activities scheduled there this year as they sometimes have provincial teams for national tournaments that are sort of separate from the pro structure.
Turkey shows no signs of stopping though. We may also get the New Zealand league in a month. |

Czech league is weak. ZVVZ USK Prague is a strong team in a weak league. Slovak is weak. Polish probably declined.
I always thought French and Spanish league were quite strong. Russian and Turkish as well, mainly because of the foreigners. For some reason Germany's league is probably not very good based on the fact that they almost never have euroleague teams and good foreign players. I always wondered why is that.
