Two dudes at Johns Hopkins want us to adopt a new calendar system. Someone needs to revoke whatever advanced degrees they have. They have to be fraudulent!!!

Nobody in their right mind would think that this would work in today's day and age. They seem to not realize that this needs to be looked at globally, not just something that the US can do on their's and Trump's whim. And we pretty much can't agree to anything globally!!! If we can't do human rights globally, no way in hell we're going to do something as meaningless as changing our calendar!!!!!!!!

We are not alone on this earth and we can't be having global holidays (Christmas, New Year's Day [ok, China, but it's just ceremony, isn't it? They work off of the Gregorian calendar for everything else AFAIK] and Easter on different days!!! We really can't even have days being different. Think of the chaos of international business and meetings. International sports competitions. It would be next to impossible.

Given that we have gone over a half century without changing to the metric system, the USA is probably the worst candidate for selling a new calendar to. They should be talking about buttering up the heads of the EU.
I don’t know that it would be that difficult in the computer age for one country to have a different calendar as there would be programs and websites and apps to convert between the two, similar to the way countries have to convert currencies now. But it wouldn't be hassle free and would result in some amount of mixups and missed deadlines and events.

The US has gone well over two centuries without changing to the metric system. France went metric in 1795.

The financial cost for the US to switch to the metric system now would astronomical. It should've happened 100 years ago.

The calendar idea isn't going anywhere, but the U.S. is partially metric.
Our monetary system has always been metric -- i.e., decimal. There was a goverment bureau set up in the mid-70's to convert the U.S. to full metric, but there was great resistance and it was officially abandoned in the 80's.
Nevertheless, significant metrication has prevailed (at least alternatively) in science, medicine, pharmaceuticals, tools, guns, tires, wine and soda bottles, speedometers, rulers, etc. |
