Sue has officially signed with Mendi, a sports CBD brand whose north star is to destigmatize cannabis and promote better recovery.

“Though it’s [CBD] technically on the WNBA ban list, I can’t imagine it’s going to be the case forever. I want to make sure people have an understanding of what CBD is, what it does, and the positive impact it can have. So when it does become legal in the WNBA, people will be ready for it,” Sue says.

Sue Bird - the most interesting product endorser in the world:

What's funny is Seimone Augustus straight up talked about how much she uses/likes using cannabis on Dev's "Down and Dirty with Deveroux" podcast last year and there wasn't even a peep from the league about it.

Which I never could decide was just a byproduct of the lack of coverage the league gets so no one made a stink about it, or whether they are taking a more enlightened stance on the issue. I have a feeling it's probably more the former, but it would be really nice if it's actually the latter.

There are provisions in the CBA to test players if there's a 'reasonable cause to believe that a player is engaged in the use, possession, or distribution of a Prohibited Substance'. So Bird and Augustus could certainly be actively tested due to their comments. For what it's worth, they'd have to test positive for marijuana three times before they'd be suspended from any games (there's a 'program' and then a fine for the first two).

If they use a non-THC CBD they wouldn't fail a drug test, so CBD may not be "legal" in the WNBA, but it could be impossible to prove.

There must be a test for it if it’s on the ban list, unless Bird is just ditzing out. Too much CBD for Bird.
