I liked Bertsch as a sleeper in last year's draft

Someone please help me with my arithmetic. Does the Dallas Wings currently have SIX post players signed to their team? Exactly how many 2020 draft picks do they have? Training camp will definitely be a fun experience. I can see Agler telling the troops this statement. Look at the two players to left and look at the two players to your right. They will probably not be here for the first game of the season. Laughing
What is even more delicious is that the 2020 mock draft website has Dallas drafting FOUR post players! Laughing

Dallas has, under contract, Harrison, McGee-Stafford, Gustafson, Anigwe, Stevens & Thorton for post players. Thornton was their starting SF though. Makes me believe they're letting Glory Johnson go elsewhere unless there's more trades coming. Anigwe & Gustafson are under rookie contracts and (I don't believe) are guaranteed.

PG: Jefferson/draft pick(#7 or #9)
SG: Ogunbowale/Gray/Hill
SF: #2 pick(Sabally)/Thorton/Davis/Samuelson
PF: Stevens/#5 pick(Hebert)
C: Harrison/McGee-Stafford/Gustafson/Anigwe/draft pick(#7 or #9)

That's 16 there. Add in their second round picks(#15 & #21). That's 18. Six cuts. Dallas should deal some players.

Draftsite.com has been updating daily and their
order & picks see updated as of now.

Did N'dour get traded again? Smile

Ugh, another player. Dallas is really overloaded and should look to trade about 1/3 of their roster.

For what, though? I agree that ideally you consolidate all your stuff into a smaller number of better pieces, but what does Hill+Davis+Samuelson+McGee-Stafford+Gustafson+Anigwe get you at this point? Bus fare home? The 19th pick? A dial tone?

Laughing Laughing Laughing Cool
The 19th pick might be a little high. Maybe the 37th pick.

The stockpile of players & picks makes me wonder if Ndour is planning to sit out this season.

Becomes less likely when you're being paid 185k rather than 60. She just missed the Olympic qualifiers though (and the hole was pretty glaring for Spain) - I have no idea how long-term the injury is.

It's being reported that Glory Johnson is not re-signing with the Wings. Considering their overloaded roster, this shouldn't be a surprise. Wonder where she'll sign? New York? Indiana? Minnesota?

“Overloaded” quantity-wise, not quality.

I was leaning towards ATL because of the relatively close proximity to Knoxville. But I suppose they don’t really need her unless maybe they play her at the SF.

I suppose she could replace Raincock on the Liberty. Hard to say that she’s a huge upgrade.

A person can only play so many seasons of professional basketball. Might as well take it while you can.

A biomedical engineering career can wait after she's done playing.

Dallas has 14 players currently signed. Camp limit is 15.

Ndour signed a three year deal starting at $185K. Richest contract on the team.

Jefferson signed a three year starting at $170K. They’re confident she’s their PG of the future.

Harrison signed a three year deal starting at $150K.

McGee-Stafford signed a one-year deal at vet min $68K. Hard to complain about that. She might be a good trade piece somewhere with cap problems if her salary is that cheap. CON or PHX could probably use her cheap salary.

Gustafson also signed very cheap. Three year deal starting at $62K. Odd thing is rookies who didn’t get cut last season are getting paid $57K. But I suppose that is seen as perfectly normal.

https://wings.wnba.com/news/wings-trade-for-katie-lou-samuelson/

So, by getting rid of Stevens, the Wings get a second Samuelson and, I believe for the second time this week, a second 2021 first-rounder (given they had Phoenix's but then used it to get Ndour). On top of that, they still have this year's Second overall pick.

This has to signal the end of Davis' time on this team for good. It might even signal the end of either Gray's or Thornton's time on this team, too.

Stevens for KLS and 2021 1st rd pick I’ll take. Now we got both Samuelsons but I have a hard time seeing them both make it cough cough Karlie.

Samuelson (take your pick) has shown nothing so far compared to Gray and Thornton. Why would they be done with the Wings?

Seems like a good deal for Dallas. Stevens hasn't shown much.

I can see the writings on the wall for Davis , thats been pretty much assumed since the season ended , but in no fashion do i see EITHER Samuelson replacing Gray or Thornton. I would literally return my season tickets asap.

Not saying either Gray or Thornton would want out. Just saying maybe Agler/Bibb continue with the wholesale changes and put one of them on the trading block. Because of them needing to trade away Diggins-Smith and Stevens (and Cambage), the composition of the team has been radically altered enough to where players that had been deemed a fit before may not be deemed one now. If both Gray and Thornton are happy in Dallas, I'd call it a mistake to trade either one, and they certainly could make it all work with Samuelson(s). It's just hard to say where the Wings will go from here, again, especially since they still have allllllll the draft picks to deal with...

And though Katie Lou's the better, taller version of Karlie in just about every way, theoretically making Karlie completely irrelevant; I'm still not completely writing off Karlie's chances of making the roster, since Agler damn near bent over backward to have her on his roster as much as possible in both LA and Dallas...

Referring to the first round pick I’m assuming..

9.8 PPG, 4.6 RPG, and 1.1 BPG as a rookie. She was hurt last year so I’m not going to even post those stats. Definitely serviceable to me.

I think her upside is better than Samuelson’s, but we’ll see.

Cox is a no brainer, long, blocking, passing post who can hit the short jumper. Bigs are and will be in short supply and the talent is taking a big hit from this year and the following years.

I did ... I don't follow wrestling, so I'd never heard the name. Maybe she could work in biomedical engineering in the offseason. But I still think basketball would be more fun ...
