I doubt she'll be his running mate. He'll be 79 years old on election day and had heart surgery just a couple of months ago. Picking another septuagenarian as running mate will scare people away. She'll get a cabinet spot if she wants one.

If Bernie's the nominee I hope he selects Yang as his running mate.

Stacey Abrams name has been going around. He might have pressure to pick someone more into the Democrat establishment, like Amy Klobuchar. If he needs to excite black voters he might go with Deval Patrick. I've even heard Michelle Obama as a possibility.

So look. He’s 79 and he’s going to win the nomination of the Democratic Party through a state by state primary elections process. I don’t think people are put off by his age or age at all. Warren is spry and I think her age is not a hindrance. They will be running against someone older than her.

I’ve always thought it smart to pick a VP from the pool of candidates you’re running with as opposed to pulling someone potentially into the job of POTUS from out of the lower ranks. And especially for the reason of having someone young. Yuch.

If Hillary had picked Bernie she’d be president right now. I’ll maintain that until the day I die. And their politics weren’t even aligned.

But in this case. You have a women. You have a fellow candidate for the top job. She’s a superstar of your wing of the party with a very similar ideology and supporters who basically believe the same things about this country and in the same kinds of solutions.

It would seem almost petty or strange or insincere for Bernie not to select a political powerhouse like Warren, who would be infinitely more ready to actually be president (James Carvelle said she’s the most qualified candidate the party has ever had) than any of the names suggested here.

And there’s one last thing. Unlike Hillary, Bernie doesn’t make mistakes. He’s going to do what makes the most sense to Bernie Sanders. And Bernie Sanders is the kind of guy who thinks like the jammer. Cool

I wish this was a betting crowd.

Dudes. Why hasn’t someone created a wagering platform for individuals to make and fund bets against each other? Like an app. I say Bernie picks Warren and I’ll bet $5 and pilight says he won’t and we both fund our bet through the app and I don’t know how the app figures out who wins but in many cases there would be many people making the same bets with friends so the app could track the outcomes.

And I’m not talking about betting against a casino in Vegas where I’m sure you can place a bet like this. I don’t want to bet with Vegas and odds and all that. (Which would increase my payoff in this case I would imagine.) I want to make a ding in that pi-light cash pile. Twisted Evil

If Bernie Sanders picks a candidate from the democratic party establishment, a centrist, who doesn’t believe in any of his positions, that would be the end of Bernie Sanders legacy and it would destroy so much good faith he has built up with his supporters. That is simply not going to happen. That is not who Bernie is.

So what qualifications does Stacey Abrams have to be the President of the United States of America?

Why is Stacey Abrams more qualified to be President of the United States than Senator Elizabeth Warren?

Why is she a better choice for the ticket than Warren?

Don’t we all want someone (at this point especially) who has the basic traditional qualifications to be a president? Or are we that lost in identity politics that we would pass over a progressive ‘superstar’ candidate who just a few months ago was not just ahead of the pack but outshining it at every debate?

Does being qualified for the top job really matter (to voters) for a running mate? It doesn't seem to matter for the main candidate.

Well, I tried to preemptively cut the knees out from those who would invariably answer, “What about Trump? He certainly isn’t qualified.” by saying, “especially at this point.”

But it’s like this. If you want a return to rationality then you have to lead the way with a return to rational thinking yourself. Not look at Trump as having opened a door into where we can all do whatever the hell we want.

So you ask does a person’s qualifications for the job matter for the VP? To rational people it sure as hell should. Especially with a 79 year-old president. Like I said, if we want to return to a more rational hand on the levers of executive branch powers we have to bring it. Trump is irrational. And he wasn’t qualified to be president. Choosing him as the Republican nominee and electing him president wasn’t rational because he wasn’t qualified. Among other things.

I think that’s how it is. Bernie Sanders does not have to be told this stuff. He’s going to do the right thing. But you never really know.

You’re the one who said Warren was too old and voters would be hinky about two old people on the ticket!

Yeah, but it really wouldn't make a difference. People vote the top of the ticket.

What about AOC as a Sanders running mate? Very young, non-white, female. A perfect balance and not long ago she was the party rock star. She has campaigned with Sanders and he has essentially adopted her “abolish ICE” rhetoric by now saying he wants to decriminalize border crossings and end deportations. Back in 2015 or 2016 he had been asked about “open borders” by a questioner who favored it, and he responded that was a “Koch brothers (rich Republican donors) dream” and would drive wages to $2 or $3 an hour.

A vice presidential candidate may have significance if the presidential candidate will be 79 on Election Day and has had a minor heart attack.

She's not eligible. You must be at least 35 years old to be VP.

She’s a next level talent. Like JFK was in his time. She’s an incredibly fast learner and already one of the best spokespersons the party has on some of the basic traditional labor-left perspectives it purports to still be about. The rules don’t apply to her in so many areas. But ... she is hated and a very polarizing figure. The country is fucked up.

Anderson Cooper just had a lead-in to a Warren interview that said her campaign had canceled some amount of ads they were planning to run in South Carolina. But it must be money issues as she then said that there were only two states counted so far and she was going to continue to fight for her positions and gave no hint of dropping out at any point. She also spent some time criticizing Trump. Cooper then asked her if there was a “lane” for her between Sanders (who he said was grabbing or consolidating the progressive vote) and Klobuchar (Buttigieg May have been mentioned as well) She then made a case for helping the poor and other comments that seemed progressive, or like she was mostly in the Sanders “lane”, as it was assumed from the beginning.

Are you sure about Sanders?

It feels like there are some powerful forces (Democratic elites and some of the media) that will work hard to prevent him from being the nominee.

He won't be the nominee. The New Hampshire primary had more voters than 2008, and Sanders lost 100K in votes, and only beat Mayor Pete by 2%

The DNC is headed for a brokered convention - after listening to Bernie, and incorrectly assuming his "movement" was the one coming. Bernie still can't win the south, which will prevent him from being the nominee outright.

I'm not sure who you think is going to win in the south. African Americans despise Bloomberg and don't much like Buttigieg. Warren's finished and Biden's campaign is crashing. Unless you think Klobuchar plays in Dixie it's going to be Sanders by default.

It is hard to find anyone in the corporate media who wants Sanders. At least I don’t get that impression, even from MSNBC. It is common to hear someone say that Sanders is unelectable even though he polled well against Trump in 2016 and does well now. I only see clips of Sanders’ speeches and interviews, but it appears that criticizing Trump has taken a lot of air time from talking about his key positions of 2016. I especially want to hear “bring jobs back”. That is another criticism of Yang, he said nothing about job export. I assume he was of the “more jobs lost to automation” camp, which is somehow supposed to justify or poo poo job export.

Ironically, while Republican pundits and politicians on FoxNews will repeatedly say that the Democrat party has lurched far to the left, it has actually shifted right thanks to big money in politics. Now that the Republicans have seen that repealing the Affordable Care Act is not a winning position, and the Democrats are obsessed with Russia and call Gabbard a Republican for wanting to deal with Assad, the best way to tell the two parties apart is to get their position on Global Warming.

Abortion. We have two military-industrial parties, one pro-choice and one pro-life.
