My answer remains 1993.

The worst CT team since '04-05 now has 6 days to figure out how to win at USF, in order to avoid the stigma of not only ending the FF streak, but of ending the no-consecutive-loss streak, which began in November of 1993.

when all three 1/2 of their real players are 'on', they can beat just about anybody. If one or two of them are just so-so, then they could lose to any top 20 team. If two of them are on, they can still beat 90+% of the teams out there, especially if they can get anything at all from Makurat or Griffin. Griffin looks pretty hopeless if she can't/won't shoot anything except layups, even if her energy brings some fun moments. Today, he might as well have given Irwin some minutes since nothing else was working.

They're on only vs mediocre teams.

Also 145 straight conference wins, 93 more than the next longest current streak

S. Car. very impressive. I like them and Oregon more than Baylor.

But the Cocks really only have eight things over the Huskies: shooters, passers, handle, height, power, aggressiveness, execution, and recruiting depth.

It was also refreshing to see fans younger than 60 in the stands.

I think it has been a very long while since UConn had a starter (Irwin started 17 of 22 games) who wasn't rated in the top 100 out of high school (excluding non-USA players). Maybe never since the rating services started.

Hoopgurlz:
Player Overall ranking Position ranking
Megan Walker #1 #1
Crystyn Williams #1 #1
Crystal Dangerfield #3 #1
Olivia Nelson-Odata #5 #1
Aubrey Griffin #21 #5
Kyla Irwin NR #16
Anna Makurat Played two seasons for Arka Gdynia in the Basket Liga Kobiet, Poland's top women's basketball league

Well, THAT was fun.

And yes, cthskzfn, even *this* UConn is good for our game....with out their legacy of greatness, I doubt SC's crowd would have been as big. [ ....and everybody loves to pile on to see UConn lose.... Shocked ] Let us have this for the blip of time it exists. Razz

Yes, it was a bit....odd?....to see a 2 pt quarter from The Huskies. Credit SC, though, for playing tough from the get-go. The most glaring deficiency is CONSISTENCY, imo. The Huskies do some marvelous things....here and there. I believe it was Geno who used the philosophy of "Practice doing something till you just can't do it wrong." Maybe he's softening a bit..... Surprised

Harris was awesome. Dangerfield was awesome. ONO actually IS a very good post, imo: Boston was too strong for her; ONO ended up with 5 PFs, while Boston finished her game with a mere 1 PF.

Speaking of Boston, this is really the most I've watched her; she's pretty phenomenal. She reminds me of a taller, more agile Courtney Paris, with a gritty low block game and great hands.

Like Paris, she is NOT great at elevating--some of these tall/bulky/notsoathletic kids rely on their height alone. I watched some of the replays on Boston's blocks. Her feet may have gotten a whole 4 inches off the floor. If/when she looses a few pounds, and gets in better physical condition, she will be unstoppable.

I also enjoyed that little firecracker, Cooke. Cool

I might add athleticism and speed. I like using the metric system.

All those other teams who have 2 #1 overall recruits and 2 #1 at their position recruits. That is, if there are any other teams who have that level of high-rated
talent out of high school.
