Doherty, 48, who was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, opened up on "Good Morning America" that she had been privately living with cancer again for a year. She did not specify the type of cancer during her interview.
USA TODAY has reached out to her representative for further comment.
"I don't think that I've processed it," the "Beverly Hills, 90210" alum told Amy Robach. "It's a bitter pill to swallow in a lot of ways. I definitely have days where I say, 'Why me?' And then I go, 'Well, why not me? Who else besides me deserves this?' None of us do." |

| I knew a woman who had breast cancer and they removed the tumor and thought they had gotten it all. I can’t remember the exact time frame, but at some point she started experiencing pain or other issues and they were testing and finding nothing. Her symptoms got worse and they eventually realized her cancer had not only returned, but spread to her lymph nodes and I think her bones as well. It seems like there are shortcomings in not only treating cancer, but also detecting it.

| Very sad news. But Doherty has been and will be a fighter, and I will be keeping her in my thoughts.
