Hopefully, Gary Clark Jr. sweeps his categories.

Deborah Dugan speaks out after filing lawsuit against Recording Academy with Grammy allegations
Quote:
Deborah Dugan spoke out for the first time since filing a lawsuit against the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences during an appearance on "Good Morning America" on Thursday.
The first female head of the National Academy of Recording Arts, who was placed on leave last week -- just 10 days before the Grammy Awards -- discussed the sexual harassment and gender discrimination complaint that she filed on Tuesday with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. In it she alleges that the Grammys' voting process is "illustrative of the boys' club mentality that exists at the Academy and amongst its Board members."

The Grammys' Main Conflict Is Transparency vs. Diversity & Progressivity

https://www.billboard.com/articles/news/awards/8548909/analysis-grammys-conflict-transparency-diversity

Quote:
But any time the committee elevates an artist who would otherwise not be nominated, it is, by definition, denying a nomination to someone who Academy members wanted to see nominated. There are only so many nominations slots in the Big Four categories: five, from 1958, the first year of the Grammys, through 2017, and now eight, starting last year.

The idea that Billie Eilish is better than Lizzo at anything is just bizarre to me.

I guess I'm old.

I'm considerably less impressed with Lizzo than most people. Her main ability seems to be making songs sound like songs you've heard before. Sometimes it's obvious where she's cribbing from ("Truth Hurts" is "Black Beatles") but mostly it's just a feeling that I've heard this before.

I'm not super hyped about Billie Eilish either, but at least her music is distinctively her own.

Lizzo isn't the most original, but her talent is undeniable. I've been listening to her for years and keep coming back.

Eilish, I try to listen to and get bored very quickly.

I'm not crazy about either artist, but Lizzo has a lot of talent. Just wish she could write better music.

Her brother has a lot to do with her success. The album was recorded in his bedroom studio.
