As I stated in the other thread, it's pretty much a potluck ranking right now - we will only find out who is truly worthy of #1 at the end of the season.

The #1, #2, and #3 ranked teams fell - next team up is the #4 ranked team, South Carolina. #6 Baylor's win over previously #1 Uconn was impressive, but Uconn hasn't looked like a #1 ranked team anyways.

South Carolina was given a 1st place vote coming into this week, and they've only been playing perhaps their best basketball since SEC play began. They have played arguably the best against their schedule, of the top 4-5 teams in WCBB with the top 4-5 toughest SOSs: tied only with Virginia of WCBB teams that have played 10+ opponents in the Quadrant 1 of RPIs - UVA is 3-7, and USC is 9-1.

Baylor has played half as many Q-1 opponents thus far, and they are 4-1, with the one loss being to South Carolina. Even with their win over Uconn, they still have a SOS outside of the top 50, and a RPI outside of the top 10.

In other words, both teams should move up thanks to the teams above them falling, but I don't think Baylor has done enough to warrant jumping over both #5 Stanford and #4 South Carolina, who both have been winning. Stanford has been dropping in the RPI rankings lately - they will play both Oregon teams next week, so they may make a case for themselves in the polls in another week...

I'd split my vote between Baylor and SCar.

Laughing @ the Arizona State option.

I’m with what seems to be the general consensus, which is that SoCar will be ranked #1 tomorrow but at this point of the NCAA WBB season, Baylor’s the “best” team. When Baylor lost to SoCar, they were without Cox; they haven’t lost at full-strength this year (unlike Oregon, one of the original title favorites).

Out of these past four seasons Cox has been at Baylor, anyone know how many of Baylor’s total losses have come when she was/wasn’t playing?

It was a rough week for ranked teams, with 11 of them losing at least one game, including Nos. 1-3 falling in a four-day span. The last time the top three teams in the AP Top 25 lost within a span of seven days was during the 2011 NCAA tournament.

2018
She played 15 minutes in the Stanford loss

2017
DNP against UCLA
Normal minutes against Oregon St.

2016
Minor minutes in all four losses--she really wasn't a big factor as a frosh, came into her own as a sophomore

Basically, the only loss since the start of her sophomore season where she was reasonably healthy was the Oregon St. loss in the tourney.
