9 pm EST
Hilton Coliseum, Ames, IA
FS1 TV

With all 3 of their losses being to Iowan teams (and no really impressive wins, either) can Iowa State take down the Longhorns, with their roller-coaster record? Beating the likes of TN and Stanford, but losing to teams like TCU and Hawai'i--might just depend on which TX team shows up tonight.

Fantabulous % on 3s for both teams at the moment: TX-62% (5-8 ), IA-St 44% (4-9).

TX fg% sucks overall, tho. Razz But they just pulled ahead 32-29.

Final 81-75 Texas. Caught the second half.
Longhorns played well. Why are they so up and down? If they play like this against Baylor, they will give the Lady Bears problems.

They shot around 50% from the field AND 3pt land. Only 6 turnovers -- how often do you see that. Go figure.

Yeah, they turned THAT around. Maybe the Big 12 might be more interesting that originally projected.... Cool

“After getting off to a good start, they punched us in the mouth and made the game a street fight and we couldn’t handle it,” Fennelly said. Fennelly was asked if the physicality compared to anyone else he’s seen. “Our football team, maybe,” Fennelly said... “We just have to understand that the way to play us is just to maul us and beat Ashley Joens up,” Fennelly said...

Karen Aston/Texas fan here. Are there any Big 12 conference or NCAA rules about what losing coaches can say in press conferences? Bill Fennelly went too far, IMO.

Yeah, agree that was pretty rude.

What has happened to these corn fed, heifer wrestling Midwest kids that they are so vulnerable to a little rough and tumble basketball. 20 years ago a team of middle America kids might not of won the game but they would have gave better than they got.

Bill, Bill, BILL! When you resort to such dialogue, you're obviously out of excuses. TX was called for 18 PFs, IA-St. for 13. TX took 13 FTs, IA-St. took 12. I watched the game and didn't see anything that resembled "mauling". Rolling Eyes

I totally agree. We watch the game as well, and while there was some physical play, it was on both sides. And we were very underwhelmed by the play of Joens. Not that she’s not good, but we didn’t think she lived up to the hype.
