So how far should #1 Stanford drop tomorrow after losing to unranked Texas? I say they should drop to 5 just above Louisville, who also lost to an unranked team (tOSU). The other four teams are either undefeated or lost once to a ranked team.

Stanford should be the only be shift. Dropping to #6 I'd guess.

1. UCONN
2. Oregon
3. Oregon St.
4. South Carolina
5. Louisville
6. Stanford
7. Florida St.
8. Baylor
9. NC State
10. UCLA

Michigan St. likely drops out of the top 25.

I don't agree with the harsh punishment for South Dakota. They lost to a tough South Carolina team. Seems like past polls didn't punish so harshly for losses to top teams.

Maybe it’s less about punishing South Dakota and more about rewarding Texas for beating #1.

Not much action in this week’s poll other than at the bottom.

Miami moves up one in the poll to #23.
Minnesota is back on the poll at #24.
Michigan drops out of the Top 25.

It will be interesting to see what they do with the P12 once they start beating up on each other.

I actually don't care about rankings, but I fail to see the logic of Stanford's being ranked ahead of UConn. Both have one loss, but UConn's is to the current #2 team while Stanford's is to a currently unranked team with no votes in the poll. In addition, UConn has a higher NCAA RPI.

I would assume it's based on Stanford's three wins against ranked teams compared to UConn's one.

I didn't think of that, but now that I have, I'll point out that that hasn't changed since last week when UConn was four spots ahead of Stanford. The only thing that's changed is that UConn got a much better one loss than Stanford and probably increased its RPI.

Pretty much got it - not sure why UCLA would jump Oregon St, but not Oregon - Oregon has 2 losses to Oregon States' one, and they both lost to the same team on the same weekend, and Oregon State has the slightly better SOS and RPI.

Which was why I put UCLA above both of them: UCLA is undefeated, and has a similar SOS and RPI to both the Oregon teams. UCLA is 5-0 against Q1 RPI opponents, and 10-0 against Q1 and Q2 teams, while Oregon is 3-2 and 5-2 combined, and Oregon St. is 5-1 and 8-1 respectively. Oregon's 2 losses are sticking out like a sore thumb in the top 10 to me - if anything, Oregon St should be ranked higher than Oregon right now, but I think UCLA deserves to be above both.

I just got the Florida State ranking all wrong. I knew Texas A&M would likely fall after losing, but should've guessed FSU would too. They along with Indiana all lost a game last week, while Kentucky and Miss St. didn't. Makes sense. It was kinda late at night for me so I blame being sleepy for that...

so the coaches poll has Baylor #1 and SoCaro #2

what really caught my eye was at the bottom...where somebody voted for Stony Brook as the 25th best team in the country. Shocked

Laughing Laughing Laughing

It seems the Coaches took a much more acute view of the Baylor/UConn matchup, propelling the Bears higher and pushing the Huskies lower than did the AP writers.

Also, what happened to SD and FGCU....they didn't lose, did they? Shocked

Why did Oregon State move up after losing at home? Stanford drops after getting crushed by Oregon, ok. But then they beat Oregon State, who moves up? Is OSU beating a winless in conference Cal that impressive? I know these polls can be wacky, but still, is anyone paying attention out there?
