The Hartford Hawks are now 0-8 with a negative scoring margin of -19.6 ppg. This surely isn't the desired debut for new head coach and New England native Morgan Valley, who has 14 years of coaching experience in seven conferences, including a Final Four appearance with Washington in 2016, and who won three NC rings as a player at UConn, where her team went 139-8.

I wondered when the Hawks last had a winning season, then I saw this on Valley's bio:

Valley inherits a Hartford team that is coming off three straight winning seasons — including the program’s first 20-plus win campaign since 2013 in 2019 — and consecutive America East Championship appearances. The Hawks, who have won five America East Championships and have made six NCAA Tournament appearances since 2002, returned to the postseason for the first time since 2013 this past season with a WNIT bid.

I remember Rizzoti leading the Hawks to a win against tOSU. They were a nice mid-major. her last few years there were pretty dismal. Something must have happened, most likely in the budget, that has led to their fall into obscurity.

as a P12 fan, I have to point out that the P12 has more than 1/3rd of the undefeateds at this time. Of course some of them haven't played anybody, but still...I think this could be a very interesting battle in conference this year.

Of the six winless teams remaining, two are in Connecticut: 0-10 Hartford and 0-8 Central Connecticut.

If these two resistible forces can retain their spotless records, they will meet in the titanic Zero Bowl on December 21. But first, Hartford must succumb to Northeastern on Dec. 14 and Central CT must do the same against Fla. Atlantic on Dec. 15 and FGCU on Dec. 17.

Let's root appropriately.

Binghamton will almost certainly end their streak when they play Miami on the 17th, but after that, they are the favorite in all but one game (at Stony Brook) . They are statistically likely to stumble a few other times, but it is not impossible they will end regular season with one or two losses.

That's what it means. Previously, Seattle U wasn't winless, but they didn't have any D1 wins.

Hartford and CCSU are at the brink of the game of the century, the Zero Bowl on the 21st. Hartford lost to Northeastern yesterday and CCSU lost to Fla. Atlantic today. So, CCSU need only lose to FGCU on Tuesday, which shouldn't be difficult, to finalize this contest of nothing.

Kansas pulled one out of their ass vs St Mary's, who choked embarrassingly down the stretch, to remain on the list.
