I'm not quite sold on that last point Smile. But they have started out a bit better than I expected.

Big 3 for MU's Izzy Spingola just before the end of the 3rd quarter - Miss State leads 54-52 heading to the 4th quarter.

Gotta be impressed with what Duffy has done so far. BUt MU has gotta work on that inbounds play. If it weren't for those stupid TOs on inbounds MU would be way up here.

and MSU is not the 10th best team in the country. They just have built a resume on cupcakes.

Yep - they have a lot of trouble with that.

Miss State has taken control late with a 69-64 lead with 1:19 to go.

MU just ran out of gas once they hit 61.

It was a good watch though. Thanks for the link, Shades...

27 turnovers - ouch! They cut that down by even 10 they probably win. That's a big thing that I think MU needs to work on.

Edited to add - they had another one right after I typed this also so 28 on the game.

MSU wins 74-68

Marquette did everything really well except for turnovers on out of bounds passes after a State made bucket. I’m thinking Marquette is the 2nd or 3rd best team in the Big East now. Very very impressed with them.

Wait - I thought they were the 9th best team in the Big East Smile. I kid - I know you agreed with me that the preseason coaches' poll had them picked too low.

Totally!! Originally I had them at in the middle of the Big East. However, I did not realize how good King was! She’s fantastic! I also didn’t think Lott would be this good offensively. Always saw her as a rotation player that played great defense. Marquette looks like a tournament team to me. Northwestern is a tournament team and will surprise people in the Big 10 this year, so I don’t think that’s a bad loss at all.

What will be more typical of MU- struggling vs aggressive, over-playing defenses or shooting 50% from 3?

This was MS' first real opponent of the season.

If MU is the 9th-best BEast team, then UConn is joining the best overall WCB conf next year!

Following the team closely I knew Lott would be a key offensive contributor. She really showed a lot offensively when she moved into the starting lineup when Blockton got hurt last year. They had never really needed her to score before that. Her defense is incredible. Lott missed the Northwestern game due to injury - I think they would have won that had she been able to play.

Sounds like @HailState barely escaped! That may make things verrrry interesting in the SEC.
