Without EDD the Sun will win again.

So they really need 4 travel days to get from DC to CT? Who approved this schedule?

I think it was just a television scheduling matter. Likely ABC only has that slot open.

The Mystics aren’t complaining. They get 4 days off to treat Delle Donne.

They didn't know who would be in the finals when the schedule was made

They better soak in the time off while they can, because it’ll be one day’s rest between the final two games, even for trip back to Washington (if it goes to 5 games).

I hope Coach T runs practices during this break as if EDD is not on the team. T-Hawk needs to be on the floor more. Whoever runs cold needs to sit.

Rest can only help EDD, but those who've had back injuries know that the tiniest thing that tweak it again. Or the worst-looking fall doesn't cause a problem.

I'm sure she tries to play, and for the sake of the league, I hope she can go all-out.

The four days off also helps the Sun, though, as those starters are playing tons of minutes at the end of a long season (and year).

As long as every game stays relatively close, all we need is one overtime game and Alyssa Thomas will probably end up averaging over 40mpg. Which would be fun.

I suppose they won't tell anybody the result of the mri

The short travel time between DC & Connecticut also helps both teams. One hour flight plus a one hour bus to Mohegan Sun.

Sun had Bria Holmes , Tuck and AT out there for a number of minutes. Mystics went on a 12-4 run around that time. Probably too small a sample to draw a hard conclusion. Miller only pulled it cause Jonq had the 4 fouls. It looked to me like Bria was a little confused as to what exactly was her assignment. Certainly a low minutes line-up during the regular season. My thought had been Bria + Stricklen + Jonq , to contain the 3 point line a little better and Jonq can bat clean up for anyone, while putting a near 5-out offense up as a challenge.

This has been a weird injury year for the major professional basketball finals. First, KD suffers an injury that clearly gives Toronto an edge. Second, Delle Donne suffers an injury with the Mystics as the favorite and now gives the Sun the edge. I know she had an injury last year as well, but Washington was not the favorite to win and probably wouldn't have even with EDD at 100%. Fate is everything in the finals it seems like..perhaps bodies are being asked to do too much?

Honestly EDD should consider opting out of next year's Olympics - that month off would probably help her more than most players. And as good as she is, she wouldn't be needed in that sense, and it's not like she'd be trying for her first gold medal. Thibault should more than float that idea out to her in the offseason if they don't win it all this year.

Delle Donne doesn't play overseas. She tried it once and her Lyme Disease came back and she had to rush home. Getting paid by the Mystics & now USA basketball in the offseason is a bonus and I doubt she turns down the 2020 Olympics.

Delle Donne is working and practicing with Team USA all winter. Not playing in the Olympics if she is able is not very realistic.

Then I just can't see her being healthy in the playoffs next season either, and therefore winning the title, given it will be a longer than normal season for those participating in the Olympics. Would love to be wrong, but so far her body has only proven to be injury-prone (and especially at that time of year).

"Greatest moment in Nats history" is a really low bar, about on par with "fastest Yugo on your block".

Unless they’re going to hop her up on pain meds and risk making her condition worse, I’m guessing she’ll be out the rest of the series.

he's always bashed the WNBA and women on Around the Horn. Somehow he continues to get away with it.

I can't imagine what treatment is actually going to help a herniated disc in 4 days, other than to treat the symptoms of pain and spasms.
