I was wondering about the timing of this game. Would have sucked if this and the Finals were on at the same time. So we get a women's bball double-header today!!

Out of interest, what's on ESPN (or even ESPN2) immediately after the Finals game? If it's just random junk it seems like they could easily have put a USA-Canada continental final on actual TV and make the 4+ hours run on something of a theme. |

ESPN has the Spartan Race at 5pm(likely tape-delayed) & ESPN2 has E:60(repeat). So the game could be put on ESPN2 at least.

The ESPN+ schedule has the bronze medal game of Puerto Rico v. Brazil set to tip at 5:20 PM EDT, with the US/Canada gold medal game to start at 7:50 P.M.

14-9 USA after 1. The US roster is long on centers and short on PGs and outside shooters, but Canada can't hit a shot to save their lives.

Both teams look tired. Playing 6 games in 8 days does that.

It's a rather meaningless tournament, but does anyone know why the USA doesn't typically participate in this? They last participated in 2007.

It usually happens during WNBA season, and the US is rarely in a position of needing to qualify for the Olympics. In 2007, coming off a third place finish in the 2006 WC, Team USA needed to participate to go to the Olympics in 2008.

With the US up by 20+, it looks like Sessions is finally going to get some extended minutes. She's trying to keep up with Canada's PG Jami Scott.
