Great interview. You can see why Atkins is successful: she's very level-headed and mature. In the first half of the interview, there's an interesting discussion about learning plays. It gives you an idea of why some coaches are reluctant to use rookies.

How is her YouTube channel doing? I don’t know what are good view and subscription numbers for something like this.

Just from the beginning sound bite doesn't sound like there will be much of anything new in the CBA at least for players currently playing. Love to hear more from anyone who had time to watch it.

So the first 13 minutes or so deals with the CBA. Not a lot of specifics but she did keep saying things like "all the players need to benefit" and "we can't raise the top players by cutting money from lower ones on the scale." I don't remember the exact words but that's sort of the idea. She is confident the deal will be done by October (I assume sometime before the end of October.)
Interesting discussion of "player experience" (whatever that means exactly) suggesting it is quite different from team to team. Dev said "Phoenix and MN take care of everything for you" while not naming any teams that didn't. Nneka wants to "standardize" player experience. Imagine this means bringing other teams up to the level of those teams rather than the reverse.

I think what she was trying to say is that they can’t just raise the top scale only. Everybody gets some kind of raise even if top scale gets a bigger percentage.

Yeah, I bet they don't really want to 'standardise' it. Not if it meant forcing the wealthier teams to spend less money and treat their players worse. The thing is, unless you cap/standardise/centralise absolutely everything, teams with more money are going to have an advantage somewhere along the line. Whether it's better practice facilities, better medical treatment, better staff or whatever, it's close to impossible to make everything even league-wide. The cap and draft system do a pretty decent job of evening things up, all in all. |

That’s her way of throwing shade at Indiana because she wasn’t happy with their separation agreement. She’s always had a chip on her shoulder mentality.

She really ought to be doing these as podcasts - then those interested could listen to them in their car or while doing some other mindless activity.

The disparity exists in all professional leagues, to one extent or another.
One thing free agents have said is that the Warriors, for example, take care of their players and the players' families more than some other franchises. I don't know what that means exactly, but the point being made was that players have a better experience with some franchises and a worse one with others.

Cut from what? I don't have the patience to sit and listen to Dev Peters of all people for 25 minutes.
