Will the Mystics rest EDD? Would a 4th missed game cost her some MVP votes (every previous MVP has missed three or fewer games)?

Mystics get a long rest so no need for anyone to sit out. But their #1 position is not at risk, so they might limit minutes. As well as they have been playing it seems they have magic uniforms - anyone in Mystics uni plays well.

She seems so much the clearcut choice for MVP, that I doubt that the voters would hold it against her to sit the last game of season.

I’d hate to see it happen, because it messes with the sacred criteria. Like to keep the standards up for MVP up so it stays a meaningful award.

It’s a home game (Fan Appreciation Day?). The fans come to see her. Don’t disappoint fans on Fan Appreciation Day. Probably should play her at least the first half. And if it turns out to be a competitive game, might as well try to win it. You don’t want to get used to losing right before the playoffs to a playoff caliber team. Didn’t they already lose to Chicago once this season for like the first time in a long time? The Mystics may have something to prove to themselves. Beat Chicago and they’re kept in the first round with no bye. Maybe they’d prefer to have Chicago play in the first round, so a team like Phoenix, who historically do well in single elimination games, can knock them off early.

Does Thibault thoroughly think through things like this? Probably not, so who knows what happens.

As far as rest goes, they have the double bye, so they’ll be waiting a bit to play their first playoff game.

If it’s up to Delle Donne, I believe she would play.... with that mask. I’m betting she doesn’t even need the mask anymore, but since it doesn’t bother her, she actually loves it. It makes her feel more confident to remain on the court unharmed. She feels like a superhero.

Delle Donne can simply play the first five minutes of each half and sit the rest of the game.

EDD is starting. Guess they don't want to risk the wrath of the basketball gods.

well that ejection was pretty pathetic. I would think the guy would at least look at the monitor before going off the deep end. I could see calling a technical...but an ejection?! no.

One moment you're trying to show where you got hit, next moment out of nowhere security is coming to escort you out and you have no idea what's going on. That felt horrible.

A technical is mandatory there. You don't touch the refs. The ejection was a little much.

I guess Chicago wasn't ready for the Mystic big lineup. Hopefully, they can make the adjustment in the 2nd half.

I assume the rule doesn't include accidental contact with the refs during play? I am sure I recall a bump with a ref or two this season.

Certainly the immediate “Oh no! You touched me!” ejection with strong aversion was over the top.

It's a judgement call by the official

I bet that official gets talked to by the league immediately at halftime/end of the game... and it probably won’t be a fun convo.

Kevin Fahy - he's the junior most official in that crew. The thing about having six games today is you're going to get some of the worst officials out there. Hopefully he's not doing any postseason games.

We can hope that is the case anyway.

Hmmmm, entitled white boy much? Disgusting. The WNBA is a beacon of Race and women’s rights. He needs to be shit-canned. Personally, I feel there should be a ceremony commemorating the occasion too.

That official is the same one who early in the season ejected Kristi Toliver during the passing the ball incident, which was one technical too many and overeager officiating. I knew he looked familiar, but couldn't remember why. Toliver's ejection wasn't as ridiculously and offensively over the top as this one. And the involvement of security, was truly WTF. Mystics fans should be upset that someone was carried off from their home court out of the blue, and perhaps should have booed this game-ruining display, especially when they booed so much uncontroversial officiating. Although I probably wouldn't as I would just be flabbergasted if this unfolded in front of me. Shocked

After a league review, we have determined that the technical foul against Chicago’s Astou Ndour should not have been assessed. The technical foul and subsequent ejection have been rescinded.
