That's miles from convincing evidence. A good number of new fans from Queens and Long Island who own cars could be attracted. And the Liberty could easily set up shuttle buses from nearby LIRR stops.

The Prudential Center and WCC were/are both problematic for many Liberty fans in terms of the less than wonderful public transportation options. The franchise didn't fold while in Newark and the franchise hasn't folded so far in WCC. Both are terrible options, just like the Nassau Coliseum.

I have strong reasons to hope that the Liberty won't move to Nassau. But I find it hard to believe that if the team played there in 2020 they couldn't draw the same limited number of fans that they draw at WCC.

They'd clearly draw better at Barclays. Going to Nassau Coliseum alienates their Jersey base. I know I wouldn't travel that far.

Don't think you'd get a Long Island base of significance to go to Nassau and I'm pretty sure the organization is aware of that. I don't think there's any likelihood whatsoever they will be in Nassau next year. If they were even considering it they would have likely tried one game there this year.

Of course that's true. But surely there were fans from Long Island who wouldn't go to the Prudential Center.

In no way was I comparing likely attendance in Brooklyn to that on Long Island (or Westchester or Newark).

I think you're right about not testing out Nassau. I've said repeatedly and I'll keep saying: I think going to Brooklyn was a done deal right at the moment that Joe Tsai bought the team. I don't believe for a second that Joe T. would have bought the Liberty still wondering: "Hey, where should we play in 2020?"

I hope there's a great turnout on Sunday simply because it'll be fun. Beyond that, I don't believe it matters. Joe T. isn't still sitting here in mid-August wondering: "Hey, where should we play in 2020?"

Nice work Liberty ...must be hard to shoot yourself in the foot !

I complained about this 3 weeks ago check page 1

BUT THESE ARE NOT TEAM ADS

These ads are provided by the league...the fonts and colors are different

I already complained twice to libs PTB and sent a screenshot

Repeat these were not posted my the team they were posted by dotcom...lib officials were NOT amused

Yes on all counts. Great effort by Happycappie25 and anyone else who spoke out about this fiasco. But outrageous incompetence at wnba.com

I agree in my gut but giving him a big welcome can't hurt leave nothing to chance lib fans seem to be taking this to heart

I'm definitely in favor of giving Joe Tsai a big welcome. Because I'm convinced he's bringing the team to Brooklyn in 2020. And because he has gotten Hideous Lord Jimmy and sexual harasser Isiah out of the world of the New York Liberty and hopefully out of the WNBA forever.

Really hoping we get a win today for the fans showing up at Barclays. Also would like to hear Tsai make some kind of announcement about the state of the team for 2020. CBA aside, schedules are typically released in late January, so if they're playing at Barclays next season, they have to agree on dates well before January 2020.

really thinking we get this lower bowl sellout. Cheapest tickets that remain are $50.50 and are very limited. Most tickets that remain are courtside or behind the baskets. Wonder if they'd open up more sections since the cheaper seats are soldout(sections 107-109?)?

Expected attendance is listed at 5,000. I am hoping for some walk-up action.

It's hard to judge, but with a lower bowl sellout, I would think it holds more than 6k. Barclays is smaller than MSG, so I was expecting around 8k for a lower bowl sellout. There's a ton of people outside of Barclays right now!!

Great atmosphere so far. Clearly a lot more people here than at the preseason game back in May. Close game early.

Katie Smith might be the worst dressed coach in the league.

NBATV HD or regular broadband unwatchable. Had to put on WNBA League Pass to view without major breaking up.

Per Geoff Magliochetti, Liberty owner Joseph Tsai is not in attendance.
