Having last played on Sunday, Sparks should be well rested. With all of our bigs, we should be able to throw a lot of different looks at Griner to try to slow her down. We need to limit Bonner's effectiveness and contest the three point shot.
It will be a good test for the Sparks. Let's get it! |

I'm expecting it to be more like a half-assed pop quiz for the Sparks that they can ace with their eyes closed.
We already had a perfect storm type game vs the Mystics a few days ago so I'm not expecting another one this soon. (I'd be happy to be wrong, of course)

That's my girl.
I'm honestly impressed she managed to make it this far into the season. Glad to see she's not letting her injury hold her back in all ways.

Maybe if the Sparks would get some fouls called against them that they deserve it might make a difference. All the refs are doing is blowing their whistles against the Merc. Even the commentators saw that one foul was not a foul. It would be nice to see the Sparks win a game without the help of the refs. I can see how this game is going so I am done.

So, at least B. Turner was somewhat of a bright spot. She needs to get stronger so she can finish with consistently inside, but she moves well and hits the boards hard. It’s too bad Bonner waited so long to actually get involved. |

Some notes:
*Aside from Griner and Mitchell, Phoenix was 6-for-35. That could be a plan, really -- let those two score and shut down everyone else.
*Vadeeva looks like a nice player, but I've yet to see the star potential. Of course, she's still young and doesn't get extended minutes.
*Yes, Phoenix has lots of injuries, but LA is winning games with Sydney Wiese starting and playing big minutes every night.

Griner was unstoppable. I love watching her play. Such fluidity around the rim. She was quick and decisive with her attack (i.e. post up, turn around, face-up jumper.)
Great balance in scoring for the Sparks. Great three point shooting and from numerous different players. I'm really liking how the team is coming together. We are still without Beard and Williams, so incorporating them might be difficult, but it's a good problem to have.
Have to take care of business at home against Chicago on Sunday, and then a quick two step in Dallas and Chicago. Let's go Sparks! |
