All Star Girls Report (ASGR) only has publicly released its 2020 class rankings for those schools to whom players have committed.

The players listed in my original post and in the link above have all given verbal commitments to the respective schools.

Interesting. I only *watch* espn's rankings, where Bueckers is #1: The link offered schools' class rankings, but I didn't see who their #1 player is. Anyone know?

Also, Scherr is ranked #7 here, and #24 on espn. :shock

Now, I'd take it that Evina Westbrook is considered the #1 Transfer, with the 1 TR designation. Fair enough. Logic might then lead to the deduction that Shaina Pellington (formerly OK) is considered the #186th best transfer, as she heads to AZ....huh??? THAT kid is much better than #186 amongst transfers, imo. Odd. I also didn't notice any 4 TR, or 17 TRs, etc. Am I misreading?
:

You're not misreading as much as misinterpreting. The #1 for Westbrook is because ASGR had her (not Megan Walker) ranked as the #1 recruit for the 2017 class. Thus Pennington was ranked 186th by ASGR coming out of high school (also part of the 2017 class). If ASGR had done a re-ranking of the 2017 class, I'm sure Shaina would be ranked much higher.

I haven’t seen this posted anywhere else. North Dakota 6’5” high school player Lauren Ware has torn her ACL, and will sit out her senior season. She is looking to be a two sport (basketball / volleyball) player in college, and was ranked #30 in the 2020 class. She had recently released her top 5, including Minnesota and UCLA among others.

Top 2020 prospect PG Caitlin Clark is nearing the end of her recruitment, trimming her list to three schools: Notre Dame, Iowa, and Iowa State.

Clark held offers from Texas, Oregon, Oregon State, Duke, Florida, and Drake.

My guess is that Caitlin Clark has the two Iowa schools still listed for the same reason Breanna Stewart always had Syracuse listed: geographical correctness and respect. It would be pretty hard to turn down an immediate starting position at Muffet's Guard University -- though maybe MGU should be downgraded a bit, now that Niele Ivey is departing.

On the other hand, A'ja Wilson always had South Carolina on her final lists.

Clark is probably more Wilson than Stewart in listing of her local schools because she actually has taken unofficial visits there and has them in her F3. Stewart announced during the winter of her junior year that was committing to UConn and had Duke and Penn St in her F3. Clark may still end up going to ND but I think her listening the her home state major schools is more than geographical lip service.

Peyton McDaniel, 6'0 G/F out of Twin Valley HS, Elverson, PA, has given a verbal commitment to JMU per Lady Swish on Twitter. Nice get, but dang, we need more height inside! All our height graduates after this year (6'2 Devon Merritt, 6'3 Kayla Cooper-Williams).

Per Raoul, Annalicia Goodman, 6'3 C from Heritage HS, Newport News, VA, has committed to JMU and announced on 8/8/19. I can't find anything else on this, either on his page or anyplace else. Great if it's true, though, as Coach O is good at picking underrated gems. And heaven knows, the Dukes need the interior height!

She does. Tore it at a volleyball tournament last few days of July so she should be ready to go (barring complications) before Arizona's volleyball season.

A few additional excerpts, from the article linked above:

--- Douglass will be following in the footsteps of her father, Billy, who was a guard for the Badgers from 1988-92, playing for Steve Yoder. He started 17 games as a senior.

--- She becomes the second member of the 2020 class, joining Brooke Schramek, a 6-2 forward from Benet Academy in Lisle, Illinois.

Hmmm. Y'all are reading a LOT into, what....social media feeds of school girls? Cuz they've played together a few summers, blah blah, doesn't a marriage make.

*I* predict that next year, after UConn doesn't make the Elite Eight, those schoolgirls might rethink their school choices, right after they rethink their nail polish colors.

And again....think about it.....a kid with a first name like "Azzi" going to UConn is about as karmically wise as a kid with a first name like "Taurasi" going to Stanford. Just. Not. Right.

PostPosted: 09/19/19 1:59 pm    ::: UConn lands post Piath Gabriel Reply Reply with quote

Seems to be a late bloomer who drew a lot of interest this summer for a modest ranking if the list of schools offering her is any evidence.

Quote:
Gabriel, who has a No. 23 positional ranking but is not listed as a top 100 player by ESPN, saw her recruitment exploded this summer, allowing her to collect offers from programs such as Tennessee, Louisville, North Carolina, Kentucky, Ohio State, Miami, West Virginia, LSU, University of Pittsburgh. This spring, she was also named to the Adidas Select team, which competed in Spain over the summer.

If nothing else she'll look imposing as the 1st off the bus. A freshman project for sure but you have to like 6'5" and big.
