Please keep long-time head coach, and current Hofstra associate head coach Cathy Inglese in your thoughts and prayers. She fell and suffered a traumatic brain injury.

Let's hope she can get back to doing what she loves.

This is pretty sad news. I did a check just a few minutes ago and the articles that are being posted within the last half hour are saying that she's fighting for her life.

It's obviously too early for more detailed information about exactly what happened but I really hope she can rally and get better.

I've liked her since she was making Boston College a pretty darn good team.

Multiple sites are reporting she's had 2 surgeries and the second one "went well." Positive thoughts for a full recovery.

Latest...

"...fell down a stairwell and hit her head before a summer workout for the Hofstra women’s basketball team....

Cathy, who is in the neurological ICU at the North Shore University Hospital in Manhassett, N.Y., had two surgeries on Wednesday and Thursday.

“She’s holding her own," Nancy said. "There are no real changes. It’s going to be a very slow process. The doctors and nurses say it’s ‘day by day.’ We just have to wait and see how she responds."

Really sad.

Did they ever say what caused her fall?

Proud to have been able to call her a friend.

She was a tremendous coach and person. She made an impact on countless young women as well as young coaches. She will be missed by many.

RIP Cathy...thank you for all you did for me in the past.

Between this and the passing of Clare Droesch, it seems the Boston College teams of the early 2000s--which were really fun to watch, by the way--have had more than their fair share of grieving to do. Terrible.
