Yep, just saw the FB post from the Dream about the final roster being set. All the best to her. She gave solid minutes off the bench last year.
So, 4 additions from last year's squad in Coffey, Gulich, Cazorla, and Peters. Still a fairly young team as well. 4 players were born in the 80s, the rest in the 90s. The only position I'm worried about is the 3, since the starters at the other 4 positions are back. Filling in for Angel is no easy task, but I think if Hayes has another great year offensively, and Collen can keep the team locked in on defense, they can still make some noise.

I'm surprised, really, that Cazorla made the roster, but happy too. It's always good (to me, at least) to see players who really understand the game get their chance ...

(print date 5/23/2019) McCoughtry told Q that she is about 70 percent healed from the torn ACL.
“I’ve been working on it so hard,” she said. “In a couple months, I’ll be able to come back and play. I won’t be back until maybe July or August.” |

“It’s like what the hell, what kind of year is this after coming off [the season off and the breakup]?” she said. “But the great thing about hurting myself is, it allowed me to give back.”
She called the injury “a blessing in disguise.” She volunteered with Atlanta LGBTQ homeless youth shelter Lost N Found.
“I talked to [the youth] and encouraged them that they can make it, that their life isn’t over,” McCoughtry said. “They were so intuitive and asked me a lot of questions. They really needed that.”
She also helped revitalize basketball courts in poor communities in Atlanta.
“I was so depressed about my breakup, I was so depressed about my injury,” she said. “That’s how I found myself again.” |

What a great article. It's good to see Angel opening up more of herself like this. To me, it's seemed like she had this wall around herself/personality/private life. But now, she's slowly chipping away at it and letting folks in to see the real her. Glad that she was able to speak to Lost N Found as well.

I legit swear I heard her cheering incessantly until the buzzer sounded last night from across the arena.
Was a young girl in seats more behind the basket who loudly yelled specific encouragement to the bitter end - true ride or die.
This is cool.

My dad's tickets are on the other side of those stairs from that family. She's a sweet kid.

Partly surprised this team didn't (attempt to?) make any trades at the deadline. Turning Peters into Coates was good, but still based on luck more than anything. This year the team couldn't "sell high" on anyone, but everyone including all of the starters should've been on the market on the off-chance a good offer popped up. Coffey and Gülich were the most realistic trade candidates to me, as neither have looked like they fit into this team thus far, but they're still young and cheap, and they carry unrealized potential. Guess not.
Hopefully Collen floated damn near everyone's name out there. Hopefully she doesn't believe McCoughtry coming back healthy next year is the panacea, cuz to me, even McCoughtry can't save what this team has devolved into. Collen to me is not getting creative enough (benching starters, etc.) to save her team, nor does she seem to be accepting this year as a lost one and re-working her roster enough to move forward in 2020. Disappointment all around.

All is not well in Dreamland, as far as Angel is concerned:

“You’ve given your blood sweat and tears, and it’s like when you get hurt, you want them to have patience with you,” McCoughtry said. “I’ve had patience with playing all these years, wanting to have a championship team. I’ve had patience with scoring 30, 40 points to help us win. I’ve had patience missing funerals with family members to play because I love the franchise. So this is where you would think the franchise would have patience with you. But sometimes it’s just a business.” |

“We’re supportive of Angel, regardless of whether she can return to play this year or she can’t. We’ve been that way from the beginning. We want what’s best for Angel McCoughtry,” Collen said. “She’s earned the right to come back when she’s ready and we would never push that. We want her to be healthy. We want her to be healthy for now, we want her to be healthy for her future. |
Surely there is *very* little to be gained by her returning to action this season, but a lot to lose.

So does Angel remain a member of the Dream in 2020?
