The starters and captains will be revealed on ESPN's The Jump. It airs at 3:00 Eastern, but I wouldn't bet on WNBA All Stars being the first thing they cover.

Kia Nurse would be the first Canadian to start an All Star Game

I get the fans voting for them, but why did the players and media vote for Candace Parker and Diana Taurasi?

Sloot being 15th in player voting kinda shocks me

The players voting Taurasi 7th with her not even playing a game yet this season is laughable. Take their votes away!

Well 6 of my picks got in- A'ja,Liz,BG,JJ,Kayla and Natasha. Had there not been a tie between BG and DB 7 would have gotten in. Another pick of mine-Diamond Deshields is in the pool.

Fan voting should not account for 50% of the vote. There are too many variables that can give one player an advantage over another.

Some Variables:

1. Home game differential.
2. Attendance.
3. Being from a different Country.
4. Attended a College in a City that has a WNBA franchise.

Fan voting should account for no more than 25% of the overall voting.

The league probably feels that having the players who the fans want is more important than actually getting the right players.

Okay, then leave it at 100% fan voting like it was for years.

If they did that then Shoni Schimmel would be voted in again as a starter.

Who the fans want, sort of becomes a self-perpetuation cycle. A lot of fans never even really watch that many regular season games from teams other than their team.. Once a player starts making the All Star Game the get pegged as an All-Star and the roster becomes a self-fulfilling system. I mean you have the option of voting for more players than your personal favorites, so they end up voting for reputation rather than a players actual production. We can surely see that in some of the results.

If they eliminated the fan voting, fans wouldn't even notice. They should definitely cut down the percentage that it counts for the final list.

There’s nothing wrong with that. She showed she belonged there.

Did you have a problem with fan voting this year? I thought you were a big Collier fan? The fans had her #4 overall, but the players and media dragged her out of starter status.

You have me confused with someone else. As to Shoni Schimmel I was sarcastically implying that they would vote her in for this year as well.

As to Shoni showing she belonged in on the All Star Team, it depends what criteria you use. She surely had a big game and won MVP, but i believe you can not pick a player for what the will do before the fact. She not only wasn't even a starter for her team, but she got very few minutes. Based on what she did in the league she did not deserve to be on the team. Lest you forget it is supposed to be based on your play in the first half of the season.

Now what she did in the All Star game is no surprise to those who followed her career. She is like the "girl with the curl". When she is good she is very very good, but when she is not she is awful. Shoni is a very steaky player who can carry a team when she is on, but also shoot a team out of games when she is not. An All Star game is the perfect vehical for someone like Shoni. As a point she certainly had the opporuntity to hoist up a shot whenever she wanted. When you are on a hot streak that results in a high point total.

I was also going to add Han as an example of how fan voting might not be the smartest thing. Every basketball fan in China would have voted for her, potentially leaving her as the top vote getter and as a captain. But she is less well known so the sarcasm would not have been as effective.
