Not confident doesn’t seem to be a part of her DNA.

More accurately, the staff showed confidence in Cunningham and she was able to produce in extended playing time. |

The Fever looking the team everyone was predicting. Now that they're playing teams that aren't New York, Atlanta or Dallas; they go on a losing streak and are at the bottom of the standings. I'd expect the four teams currently at the bottom to stay there all season(Indiana, New York, Dallas & Atlanta).

Griner's averaging 18 fga over the last 6 gms. Brondello/Phoenix making a concerted effort to get Griner the ball.

Indy at least look scrappier than they have for a few years. The big girl has limitations but she gives them a big presence in the middle that they sorely needed. She has some defensive ability which they need since Achonwa and Dupree are hopeless defensively. I'm not sold on K.Mitchell. She might be a good energy player off the bench. Think my starters would be:
Wheeler
T.Mitchell [or K.Mitch if she must]
DuPree
Achonwa
McCowan
That lineup isn't great and lacks 3 power, but I think better than how she's been playing them. Bring K.Mitch, Laney, and Johnson in for a pretty decent 2nd team. I would like to see Kea and Burke get some minutes too. They have potential and it ain't gonna develop on the bench. Why not, since you're not gonna win many real games anyway? I'm hoping S. Johnson gets back into form and hopefully VViv too. That will give them quite a good SF, which is sorely lacking now. They can rotate Mavunga in at the post, but post depth is where they really, really hurt. Mavunga can do some nice things, but unfortunately seems to have severe bball IQ limitations. I don't see Ionescu helping this team as much as some others. Indy really needs another post! I guess if they got her, they could trade some of their excess guards.

Even if you don’t start Achonwa, she still gets heavy minutes backing up both PF and C.
Pokey had to weigh putting too much fight to win this game against saving some for the back-to-back the next day.
Comparing Indiana to Dallas, both teams lack great talent. But other than McCowan stumbling into the starting spot after Achonwa got injured and never giving it back, Pokey has clearly defined roles for her players, she sticks with them, and they seem to be clicking pretty well. Agler, on the other hand, still can’t decide who he’s starting game to game a third of the way into the season. They cut Burke. They cut Gustafson. They bring Gustafson back. Probably don’t know what direction they want to go with that. What a mess all around.

I really thought Kelsey Mitchell would be a better player in this league -- but she just can't shoot consistently enough to justify her high-volume ways.
And along that line, the ability to shoot from the perimeter is absolutely critical for a young player's success. Sophie Cunningham may not be the most athletic woman on the court, but if she keeps knocking down perimeter shots, she'll be in the league a long time.

Burke hasn't been the same ever since she took the night off to go her graduation. Her minutes have been cut and she hasn't produced with the minutes she got. Pokey just doesn't play Kea for some reason.

Indiana could have won had Pokey subbed for McCowan after Griner scored 3 baskets in a row. Instead she chose to keep her in. So when Indiana did make shots to cut into the lead,it didn’t help because the Griner would come down and score. Then when the game was pretty much over, she kept the starters instead of taking them out because they had a back to back.
