This game is interesting from an "are the Fever for real?" standpoint. The Storm are the defending champs, but without Stewart or Bird they are a team that the Fever need to handle at home if they want to show they're not still a lottery team.

A win, and there's reason to believe that the Fever have elevated themselves. A loss, and it's back to suspecting that an easy opening schedule is all there's to see here.

I thought the last game against PHX was good for that. They failed that test, but I like they didn’t give up and showed more fight than in a typical game last season.

This game could be a good one. SEA hasn’t been very good on the road. The only road game they’ve won is against ATL.

McCowan and Achonwa on the court together. Seems to be working well.
McCowan with 3 blks in about 8 min.

I thought it worked out well too. After the draft Nat said she was looking forward to moving back to PF.

Was she looking forward to setting Dupree out by the curb? Wink

Forget the restricted zone, it looked to me like Achonwa was still moving laterally after Loyd left her feet so surely that stays a blocking foul?

Tough loss for Indiana. KM shouldn't have taken a 3, but should have worked the ball inside for a short shot or foul

Well that was a terrible series of end of the game decisions.

I thought all three replay angles showed Achonwa clearly outside the restricted area by like six inches. Unless they got her for still moving, but the first replay seemed to show Natalie was set.

Im loving Indiana's competitive fight this season. Its obvious Kelsey is more comfortable and this team really believes. Hope it sticks so far great job pokey regardless of the record.

When a team competes hard they are always in a game. I do believe in moral victories. Because if you play hard and keep a game close then anything is possible at the end of a game.

It was a shame that the commentator seemed to think that they were only reviewing where her feet were, when they're actually allowed to review the basic elements of the block/charge call once it goes to review. It seemed pretty clear to me that Achonwa's feet were outside the restricted area, but whether she was there in time was much more questionable. I think they definitely called it a charge based on the movement rather than the feet.

I've always said that basketball is the hardest sport to officiate because of the charge vs. block call. I thought the Achonwa play is a classic example of that. If I had to make a call, I would say that she was moving just a little and that it was a block. But wow, so close. As was the game.

After starting the season like an All-Star, Erica Wheeler has come down to earth and was benched in the 4th quarter (and most of the 2nd half) for turning the ball over 6 times in 17 minutes.

Since when can they review a block/charge? If they were only reviewing the restricted area aspect it would make sense, but to review whether it was actually a block or charge under slow motion seems like a dicey rule change.

I agree, I even thought that last year. The Fever may be talent deficient but they play hard for a full game.

And I’ve got to eat crow regarding Kelsey Mitchell, she’s looked very good this season. Better efficiency and more confidence.

Tiffany Michell has also been solid as well.

They decide to go to Dupree for the last shot. She had a decent game but she’s really not known for the clutch gene.

Why not duplicate that McCowan last second shot? Use it until they can stop it. Or else let Burke have a shot. She seemed to be hitting everything.

Some thoughts:

*KLM: 11 minutes, one shot (made), absolutely nothing else (no RBs, assists); Sami Whitcomb: 11 minutes, six points, six assists, no turnovers.

*Kelsey Mitchell has appeared to take a step forward this year.

*Kennedy Burke always had a WNBA body, and it may be she has the skills too.

*Jordin Canada is a nice backup PG, but can't shoot well enough to be a first-division starter.

*Tierra McCowan looks like she will be better than I thought.
