All I knew of Vondrousova before last week was her giving Tsurenko a tough match at the US Open last year. Apparently she won a tournament in 2017 in Switzerland and several clay tournaments when she was on the ITF tour. I knew she was a threat after the way she dismantled Sevastova.
I figured Barty was a contender from the start. Between Miami, Melbourne, and her spectacular Fed Cup play she looked like she could beat anybody if she was on. The bracket broke about as well as possible for her. Only one seeded opponent, Keys, who she beat the hell out of in Fed Cup play earlier this year.
