Yeah, Mystics could really use a back-up PG for Cloud now.

I was wondering if they could get Allemand's rights from Indiana and just go full on Belgian, but that probably wouldn't be the best idea for when EuroBasket Women rolls around.

Day to day with a right quad contusion. Small chance she plays on Saturday.

Curious if they sign someone to an injury exemption contract. They'll be down to just 8 players for Saturday.

Also from Lindsay Gibbs' twitter page:

EDD is day-to-day as well. She has a big brace on her knee, but is moving well.

Aerial Powers is 50% for Saturday, but much more likely to be back for Game 3.

The problem is that she's in Latvia's initial squad for EuroBasket Women, so she may not be there long. Although last I heard they were still working on her Latvian paperwork, so if it fell through maybe she'd stick as their temporary replacement.

After Meesseman & Mestdagh returned to the team, Peddy was released from the team only to be brought back as a part of the coaching staff, as a video and analytics assistant! Not bad for a 30-year-old rookie.

They said during yesterday's broadcast that Meesseman and Mestdagh can't play in the continuation game because they weren't on the original roster. Washington is trying to get Peddy's return approved for that half game. This looks like a holding spot for Shey so she can practice with the Mystics without being on the roster.

Actually, Meesseman and Mastdagh will be playing in this game.

Las Vegas will most likely be missing A'ja Wilson, who has been sidelined with a left ankle sprain. Washington is expected to have Emma Meesseman, who missed the original game because she was playing for Belgium in the EuroBasket Tournament.

"It's very nice to have Emma, given the number of games we didn't have her for,'' Thibault said.

I guess the announcers were wrong. Actually, I was surprised by what they said because the WNBA is such a laissez-faire league. This is more like what we'd expect.

Mystics have signed Shey Peddy to a seven day contract. Toliver and Atkins are both out for tomorrow's game vs. Seattle.

Aerial Powers is making the trade that brought her to DC look good
Jenn Hatfield (High Post Hoops)

Quote:
Averaging 10.6 points per game so far this season, she has topped that in each of her last three games, scoring 14 against Indiana, 20 against Minnesota, and 16 against Seattle—all wins. For the season, she is shooting 45% from the floor and 38% from 3-point range as one of head coach Mike Thibault’s primary bench options.

Shey Peddy signed to a second 7-day contract as Toliver is expected to be out another week.

Don’t be surprised if Toliver is out for some or all of the playoffs.

She was sporting a knee brace and using crutches at today’s game. I take that as an indication that the problem is not notably better; perhaps worse. Sad

Coach T also gave Peddy more meaningful minutes, like he was expecting her to stick around longer than just a week.

Yeah, 'knee contusion' continues to seem like a significant downplaying of Toliver's problem. I believe they'd have to set a playoff roster at the end of the regular season, however, so I don't think a player on an exception contract would be allowed to play unless they ruled Toliver out for the entire postseason. But they fiddle with those sorts of rules all the time so I'm not at all sure. They could always cut Mestdagh, who only really seems to be there as Meesseman's buddy, and sign Peddy instead on a proper deal (assuming they still have the cap space to manage that).

Or they could cut Hines-Allen before the playoffs and keep Peddy. Hines-Allen isn't getting minutes, either.

Yeah, but one injury and a little foul trouble and Hines-Allen is squarely in the rotation. How many misfortunes would they have to suffer before Mestdagh plays minutes outside of garbage time in a playoff game?

Hines-Allen has way more value than Mestdagh, both in a vacuum and to this team specifically. She plays a different type of game than our other posts, and we might face a matchup where that matters. The coaches are high on her too and just because she's not getting consistent playing time now doesn't mean she won't in a couple of weeks.

Apparently Toliver's injury is similar to Delle Donne's from last season. That's not great...
