Wow. We almost never win a trade, but I would chalk this up to a victory. Lavender will fit in very well with our team. The writing is on the wall for Alaina Coates...

With two years left on an awful guaranteed contract, LA actually receiving something in return is pretty incredible. Lavender's been very available for ages. I'm a little surprised it wasn't LA tossing in the pick to get the deal done.

Perhaps given an opportunity JLav will return to previous form. It's been hard getting minutes in that Sparks lineup. A lot of players struggle when they're just thrown in here and there for a few minutes at a time. Not saying it will happen, but it might.

Yeah, I'm not saying that adding her was a bad idea, or that she's a worthless player. But LA didn't need her, or want that contract any more. At all. So giving up anything to get her almost seems like doing LA a favour. A second-round pick is close to nothing, but if Wade can't turn the Sky around it could be pretty high in the second round. The #14 or whatever can sometimes turn into a decent player.

Hmmm... get an experienced Lavender NOW on a young team with no cap issues vs waiting for upper second round pick in a lower depth draft next year. Tough choice... not really.

The preseason games probably pried Wade’s eyes open to the fact that CHI didn’t improve at all over the offseason. They could use the front court help now.

I had the Sky finishing dead last in the standings this season. Now with Lavender trade they might not be dead last anymore. Can the Sky still suck for Cox for 2020?

Confused

Coates should be a goner now. Someone might pick-up the former #2 pick.

PG: Vandersloot/Faulkner/Jackson
SG: Quigley/Copper
SF: DeShields/Samuelson
PF: Parker/Ndour/Williams
C: Dolson/Lavender

Coates will not get cut for Ndor. Especially when Ndor has been a no show for camp this season. The day that Ndor shows up and blows up like a nuclear bomb then I will become a believer.

I thought Minnesota already had too many posts? Hey, getting anything for Coates is a good thing. Her fate was sealed when we acquired Lavender.

There is a point in one of the Chicago Sky preseason practice videos where Wade comes over to Coates and says something about her not getting discouraged when he gets on her because he believes in her. Then he swats her twice on her hip. Hip swatting (or butt patting) from a coach seems inappropriate, particularly in this day and age. I think any kind of physical contact should go, including a coach putting an arm around a player while giving them sideline instructions.

That's the second article I've seen from that writer using the phrase 'injury waivers'. I presume she means 'waived', because otherwise I don't really know what she's on about.

All the more reason why Jackson makes the final roster.
