https://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/nba/bs-sp-angel-mccoughtry-wnba-recovery-20190509-story.html

Quote:
McCoughtry, a five-time All-Star, suffered torn ligaments in her left knee Aug. 7, 2018 and missed the playoffs as the Dream lost to the Washington Mystics in the semifinals.

Collen said McCoughtry's uncertain status led the team to acquire forward Nia Coffey in a draft-day trade with the Las Vegas Aces and sign free-agent forward Haley Peters.

Collen said the team will be patient with McCoughtry's rehabilitation.

“She's not a spring chicken anymore,” Collen said. “ This is her first major injury. We have to take it slow and steady and get her strong. I wouldn't expect her out on the court anytime soon.”

Maite Cazorla's primary strength is her ability to run the pick-and-roll, which would seem wasted as the backup two. She's also going to have issues defensively, unless she's gotten quicker, stronger and/or taller.

Montgomery/Bentley/Dietrick
Hayes/Sykes
Coffey/(McCoughtry)
Breland/Billings
Williams/Gulich/McGee-Stafford

How’s that look?

McGee-Stafford reportedly on her way to Dallas for a third-rounder, which simplifies things at center (and indicates who was losing the competition).

I had a feeling IMS would be the one out in the low post battle. I hope she has success in Dallas. I do like her. I thought she had some very good moments during the 2018 season. Plus, I like her off the court endeavors as well.

This is a question I have and I had hoped to find out the answer without asking, but I can't haha. So with Angel on IR, will the Dream be able to have 12 players on the roster, or 11 plus Angel?

This league doesn't have an IR. I'm expecting Angel to be carried as one of the 12 (although they occasionally screw with suspension rules without telling anyone, so I'm not saying it's 100%).

Aha, thank you Richyyy. I'm not sure why I thought they would haha. I appreciate it. But yeah, if there's a chance she'll play this season, I'm sure they'll play with 11.

A lot of teams might be starting off with 11. Even Minnesota is considering it even though they don’t have to.

So, do we think it'll look like this:

PG: Montgomery/Bentley
SG: Hayes/Cazorla
SF: Sykes/Coffey/(McCoughtry)
PF: Breland/Billings
C: Williams/Gulich/Kizer

or

PG: Montgomery/Bentley
SG: Hayes/Cazorla/Dietrick
SF: Sykes/Coffey/(McCoughtry)
PF: Breland/Billings
C: Williams/Gulich

Are most thinking it'll be between Dietrick and Kizer for the last spot?

Any other possible scenarios?

Any news articles in SW GA for tomorrow's Dream-Mystics preseason game?

I checked the Albany Herald and didn't see anything. There's a nice lead article in the Sports section about a one-day camp to teach local female hoopers "femininity"... which, okay... but no mention of the pro teams playing there tomorrow.

Also when I Googled "atlanta dream" and albany, Google's Events feature errantly suggests the game is being played at "Oglethorpe University" (in the ATL's Brookhaven area, go Stormy Petrels!).

I can't imagine anybody genuinely planning to go is confused, but FWIW the Albany Civic Center is on "100 W. Oglethorpe Blvd.", thus the Google bot's confusion.

We are here in Albany. Got our tickets at the Civic Center this morning. Ticket agent told us tickets are selling well.

Don't think they keep both Cazorla & Dietrick. Cazorla has more uspide and think she makes the roster.

PG: Montgomery/Bentley
SG: Hayes/Cazorla
SF: Sykes/Coffey
PF: Breland/Billings
C: Williams/Gulich/Kizer
IR: McCoughtry

ATL leaving themselves a little post-thin.
I’m guessing they’ll keep Peters and the last spot will be between Cazorla and Dietrick.

It's not the best situation, but at least it's back on the air, so that's good. I still hope to make it down to State Farm Arena on Friday night.

Good job, Dream team!

If there's any local outlet I trust to cover the Dream properly, it's WSB. I just hope to duck the Angry TweetMobs when their precious all-new episode of Station 19 goes on tape delay.

(^CORRECTION: whoops, I should've kept reading, nevermind. Hello there, BounceTV!)

I'm sure LaChina is too tied to the four-letter-network contract but, hey, CBS Sports Network, you'd better go get Bawb for your national telecasts!

By my count, there will be just 3 games not covered by WSB NOW/Twitter/CBS SN/BounceTV/ESPN -- two road contests at Dallas (June 15 and August 25), and one at Los Angeles (September 3).

Now that the local situations are finally getting un-murky, will NBA TV reveal their new schedule before the season tips off?

(At least?) One more unkind cut coming today!

Figuring it's down to Dietrick and Peters, as my hunch senses that MC Hammer nailed it down.

Does Angel go on temp suspension today as well?

McCoughtry has a guaranteed contract plus she was hurt while playing for the Dream. That’s kind of a double whammy against suspension. She should be carried as part of the 12.

That brings it down to one more cut, guessing Dietrick vs Cazorla.
