Yeah, that was a major hint that Laimbeer was up to something... along with the recent Colson acquisition.

JYoung/Plum
McBride/Rodgers/Nared
TYoung/Hamby
Wilson/Bone/Park
Cambage/Swords
That’s what it’s looking like for me with current roster.
Allen on full season suspension.
If Laimbeer decides that JYoung at PG isn’t such a great idea, especially having a playoff team now, that could be tricky.
Hamby backing up TYoung could be a little iffy.
Bone, Swords, or Park for a decent guard might be helpful. Nared can play SF.

LV is a legit title contender...Liz and A'ja will be MVP candidates.

Cambage will steal some of Wilson’s thunder, but it’s about the team, right?

Okay, so it's finally happened and we have a heavy favorite for the title. Will be neat to see how this all plays out. I think they need another point guard and they are post heavy.
Bone or Hamby is out? They need more guards.
Also, dumb q but isn't this a rarity where the GM reports to the coach? Isn't it supposed to be the other way around?
From the Aces release:
“I’d also like to thank our general manager, Dan Padover, for all the work he put into this. This trade doesn’t happen without his patience and persistence. I told him that numerous times throughout this saga, and that’s why I hired him.”
Also, is Liz going to play beyond this season? I guess the Great Experiment begins.

Wilson’s numbers will be cut in half.

When you add the best player from a 15 win team to a 14 win team, what you get is obviously the clear title favorite.

I wouldn't be surprised if they just cut Bone. Who knows, maybe someone would pick her up off the waiver and take her salary.

more likely she would clear waivers, then maybe someone would offer her a vet minimum so Vegas would lose more than half the salary deficit. But it's a risk. If nobody picks her up, they are stuck with that salary.

So Laimbeer and the Aces get Cambage, but I wonder what kind of conversation needs to take place to get Liz to come over next season during the Olympics.

"Heavy favorite"? The Aces perimeter (1-2-3) has exactly one proven quality player in the streaky McBride, plus no real point guard. The pickup of Sugar Rogers does help.

If Cambage shows up for three of the next four years, Vegas could easily win the WNBA title...and could certainly contend for multiple titles.
If that happens, this deal may surpass the Katie Smith trade.

There are times when that works (Ogwumike and Parker for the Sparks in 2016; Taurasi and Pondexter in 2007 and 2009). And there are times when it does not (Taurasi and Pondexter, after the 2009 season had ended).

I would wager experience prevails, and Plum is ahead of Young.

Having a rookie run the point is a recipe for disaster.

Fully expecting both Plum and Young to start. Who the point guard is will probably be open to interpretation. Again, we've seen Laimbeer do this before - Alexis Hornbuckle initiated plenty of offense for a year or two in Detroit with Katie Smith and Deanna Nolan next to her. No one really felt the need to call her a point guard. |

I don’t think he’d consider it unless he’s really liked what he’s seen in camp.

This is what I am thinking as well Plum/McBride/Young at the 1 the 2 and the 3 with Young bringing the ball up and Plum setting up on the perimeter and all three initiating offense on drives, cuts, pick and rolls and passes in the half-court with Plum guarding the 1, McBride the 2 and Young the 3 on defense.

Plum had a great year overseas. They've likely been playing Young some at lead guard because Plum isn't back yet. But when she arrives, she's almost certain to be the starting PG. They may start Plum, McBride and J.Young together with T. Young soon off the bench. I could see them using J. Young to drive and dish out to McBride or Plum but Plum or a true ball handler will need to be on the floor or they will struggle even getting it across mid court.

True, but one can survive Hornbuckle when she plays with 2 other great guards. I am not ready to declare Ace guards like McBride, Plum, Young, and Sugar close in ability (offense, defense, experience et al) to Katie Smith and Nolan.

The winner of this trade will be determined on whether Cambage shows up after this season.
