At this point, Evelyn Akhator has played in 15 games for a total of 61 minutes. If that becomes her career total, will that be a new low for a lottery pick (#3 - 2017)?

It was a horrible pick, but in all fairness to Dallas after two years, it's looking like a miserable draft class. Based on WNBA performance so far, the best players taken after her were Gray and Sykes, I guess. Neither of them have exactly set the world on fire (and one of them Dallas took anyway). There's certainly still time for some of them to produce, but so far most teams have barely gotten anything more from their 2017 picks than Dallas did from Akhator. |

To me, it was such a shocking pick because it was totally obvious even to us basement dwellers that a)she was too short and b) she simply didn't have the skills to play at the next level...so yeah, you could take her in the second round as a wild card, but at #3, that was just terrible. And while the draft was weak, she and Jankoska at #9 were really the only total washouts.

Looks like it. I can't find any below that.

How has Coates looked? Once again, I feel like we may be best served to look at some teams' scraps than what we have...

Macaulay should make the team over her. Coates looked useless today.

Coates being waived would be ideal for smaller teams out there. At least she has the size to bang with the ever so huge western conference teams.

Sky preseason check-in: James Wade & Co. have work cut out for them

WNBA preseason games weren’t available on LeaguePass or being streamed on social media, which was probably a good thing for the Sky’s sake. |
Oh snap!
Quote: |
The Sky went 4-for-20 from three-point range Thursday. It doesn’t help that two of their best wings — Diamond DeShields (hamstring) and Kahleah Copper (hand) — will be sidelined for the foreseeable future. Rookie first-round draft pick Katie Lou Samuelson also had a poor shooting day, but Wade said he wasn’t worried. |
You’re welcome.

The silver lining of Dolson’s foul trouble was the opportunity for training-camp invitee Victoria Macaulay, who scored 12 points Thursday, to shine.
‘‘She’s played herself into a situation where we have to take notice,’’ Wade said. ‘‘She was a late arrival, and we weren’t really happy about that, her coming late. But she’s actually showed us some things that make us take interest in her and want to pay attention to her even more so.’’ |
Oh really? You would you cut to keep her?
Quote: |
Another player who has been a surprise at camp is second-round pick Chloe Jackson. Wade said Jackson has kept the competition among the guards intense. She could be used off the bench. |
She shouldn’t be that much of a surprise if you picked her at #15.

Does Faulkner get the boot for Jackson? Younger and cheaper always wins if the talent is close. I hate faulkner went through all the injuries. That could affect her if she gets cut i bet. Ive always wanted Dallas to give her a look in the past.

Macaulay over Coates. That's easy. Jackson looks like she can still make the team. Final four cuts: Abdelkader, Harper, Coates, Blockton. Even so, she'd be riding the bench as their 12th player.
PG: Vandersloot/Faulkner/Jackson
SG: Quigley/Copper
SF: DeShields/Samuelson
PF: Parker/Ndour/Williams
C: Dolson/Macaulay

I’d expect the person who thinks nearly every training camp invite should make a team to think it’s easy cutting a #2 pick.
