Per Ava Wallace Washington Post:

Other tidbit before the Mystics’ first preseason game tonight against the Lynx is Thibault doesn’t expect to play Delle Donne as a precaution bc of some stiffness. She nursed the knee injury she sustained during the playoffs well into the offseason this year

Does anyone know why Dillard hasn't played? Is she dressed?

That was a fun game to watch! I was impressed by the play of Lexie Brown, and even as much as I dilike Jessica Shepherd, I have to say she played very well at once she got over her nerves. And the standing ovation’s for Kenisha Bell were fun. But the best part was when my daughter won the tic-tac-toe game after the first quarter! 😂😂

For a team that's lost Moore, Brunson and Whalen from last season, it's a surprisingly deep-looking Lynx squad. They've added Christmas-Kelly, Dantas, Brown and Sims for the cost of virtually nothing, even before you get to the rookie(s). There's nothing like the star power that there used to be in Minnesota, but hopefully Reeve trusts more than six or seven players this year. Hopefully still Zandalasini and Fagbenle to add to what's currently there at some point as well.

Just think if Reeve would have made a sensible pick at #6, like a true post player instead of a SF that can’t shoot the three on an overloaded position (Christmas, Zandalisini, Ting, Maya when she comes back). Reeve wanting to go positionless?

But it was just one exhibition game against a wounded Mystics team (favorite to win it all? Razz). Hard to derive too much from this game other than who Reeve doesn’t see making the team. But maybe that’ll change in the next game.

She’s probably going to be cut.

Here’s some Lynx highlights. Clearly they had a film crew there.

Surprised nobody mentioned that the 6'2" Collier is the same height as the 6'4" Shepard? Maybe Collier is literally 6'2" and Shepard is the generous 6'4". I looked at the shoes also and there doesn't seem to be major height increases over one or the other. Not that it matters at the end of the day, but people always gave Collier heck over being so short for her position.

It's hard to tell from a picture like that with no other reference points. All it would take is for Collier to be walking slightly in front of Shepard in respect to the camera and they would appear to be the same height.

If anything it looks like Jess is closer to the camera. But anyway it should be no surprise to anyone since it's been clear for a long time she isn't really 6-4.

Not only is Collier closer to the camera, she’s wearing the type of boots that are likely to have have a decent amount of heel. Shepard is wearing grandma flats that go well with the rest of her outfit.

And Shepard is stepping, which Collier seems to be standing flat. And Shepard appears to slouching, which Collier is standing up straighter. '

Trying to make assumptions on height from a photo like this never makes any sense to me.

I think this was the point where Reeve cursed the WNBA not having a pre-draft combine and realized Collier doesn’t have the height or build to be a full time WNBA PF. Must be taller than Larkins to enter the PF ride.

Shepard's listed at 6-3 on the Lynx roster, by the way. Guess she shrunk an inch since leaving Notre Dame.
