The Military Games are in October, by the way. Asia Cup at the end of September, Olympic pre-qualifiers in November. So every last one of them after the WNBA season is over, most well over a month afterwards. This is all a little ridiculous. If you wanted to stay home to train and practice for months on end, why did you sign in the first place?

My guess is that bureaucrats behind the scenes are pulling the players in different directions. China is known for having national policies undermined by local officials. Han said that her change in status was settled at the last moment when her team gave her permission to play in the WNBA. These two players are both from Bayi Kylin, so maybe their management has a different view.

The surge of Chinese players signing this year was very strange. Now some won't show? Very odd.
