It did not make the day's Top 150 among viewers 18-49. It may have gotten enough viewers that we will see it on a list next week.

We finally got them and it averaged 308,000 viewers. It only averaged 53,000 viewers in the 18 to 49 demographic, which is approximately 40% of the American population.

Poor showing in the 18-49 demographic leaves us lacking in the numbers department.

The only Friday timeslot we got data for was the 7pm ET one, which averaged 311,000 viewers. Around the same time, wrestling on ESPN averaged 407,000 viewers.

We only have numbers for three Saturday windows with the missing figure being the third one. The first window averaged 320,000 viewers, the second window averaged 322,000 viewers, and the last window averaged 353,000 viewers.

On ESPN, NIT games averaged 760,000 and 274,000 viewers, followed by softball averaging 243,000 viewers, and wrestling closed the day with 625,000 viewers. Gymnastics after women's basketball averaged 198,000 viewers.

On Sunday, Michigan-Louisville averaged 317,000 viewers. The multi-game window averaged 447,000 viewers. At night, Buffalo-UConn averaged 448,000 viewers and Clemson-Mississippi State averaged 382,000 viewers.

On ESPN, softball averaged 294,000 and NIT games averaged 298,000 viewers and 360,000 viewers at the same time.

BYU-Stanford averaged 246,000 viewers.

The first window averaged 845,000 viewers with average rating as follows for these demographics:
18-49: .19
F18-49: .13
M18-49: .24
18-34: .15
F12-34: .11
M12-34: .17
25-54: .23
50+: .50

The second window averaged 904,000 viewers with average rating as follows for these demographics:
18-49: .18
F18-49: .14
M18-49: .22
18-34: .13
F12-34: .08
M12-34: .14

If you wonder why UConn always gets lots of TV time, there's your answer ...

Richard Deitsch
@richarddeitsch

ESPN says Baylor-Notre Dame WBB Final drew a 2.2 overnight rating, up 11 percent over last year.

That projects around 3 million viewers.

Probably this means nothing, as could be small sample size at work ...

Men outnumbered women watching the games themselves; women outnumbered men watching the studio show.

My operating theory is that women make up a bigger percentage of the hardcore audience that tunes in as much as possible while men are more likely to be the casual audience that wants to see what is on ESPN and then decides to stay a while.

ESPN2 coverage of the draft averaged 243,000 viewers.

I know people complain about it not being all on one channel or being too rushed, but the replay of golf afterwards did average 311,000 viewers.

I will NEVER understand people watching golf. NEVER. I don't even understand people playing it! As the guy says in "The Music Man", "Any fool can take and shove a ball in a pocket." And if I'm going to do that, I'm going to do it on a table, indoors, out of the weather, TYVM.
